Guest guest
I am not banded and have not had WLS yet, but ... I have to say that reading this board has given me lots of info. Some days I feel like "I could not deal with that" when y'all are talking about the occasional bad PB episode, and then this week when y'all are discussing the unfills I think "how nice to feel uncomfortable and be able to do something about it" ... because had you had bypass, there'd be nothing to un-do to fix your discomfort! So ... the band truly is a tool, and I can see the advantages of it and why so many people have chosen it. It's nice to know that if it gets too tight for whatever reason, you can step back, unfill for a bit, then start again slowly. Or, if you lose more weight than you want, you can have a little saline taken out so you can eat a little more. It just seems like a really neat thing! Dena Who would have thought-and unfill! Hey Bandster Family, I thought I would check in a say Hello and give an update. I reached my goal back around my year anniversary in July. I originally set a goal of 140 lbs. I started at 210 lbs. I only had 3 fills and have been at a wonderful "Sweet Spot" for most of the last year. This morning I weighed myself and was down to 125 lbs. My husband has been teasing me about my bones sticking out and I realized I could keep going and going and going. I love the feeling of no hunger I have made a conscious attempt to get all my protein, etc but my weight keeps dropping. No diet ever worked this great! So, this morning I went in for an unfill. I had 1.8 taken out of the band and so far so good. I get only a little hungry and am eating small amounts. I love this band. The beauty of the situation is that if I do gain a little weight I can have the band tightened a little. What an awesome tool. I never thought I would get to a point where I would be satisfied and not want to lose anymore weight. The band is a miracle. For anyone in the Seattle area I went to see Kitty Carmichael in Arlington, WA. She found my port without a problem and the whole expereince was excellent. She gave my husband a fill last week and only charges $150. I love that price! I want to thank you all for your support and advice over this past year. You have all been my inspiration. I learn from your successes and trials. I am so glad to be able to type again (broken knuckle is better) and hope to be more vocal and supportive of you all from now on. I appreciate you all! Guest guest
HI I am also from Washington (I think there are alot of us:-). I live down by Gig Harbor. How far is arlington from Tacoma? about 2 hours? because I found Dr. Neil in Olympia and he charges 350, but they do it with floura. does your Dr. do that? I may get my first one under floura, because I really want to see the placement of the band and make sure all is well in there. I have this huge fear of my band slipping. I am 21/2 weeks out and I have little restriction at all, so I am really looking foward to my fist fill. So if you could email me the number of your doc and let me know if they do it under floura that would be great!! and congrats on being a tiny little gal!! that is amazing that you are that tiny!!! :-) way to go girl!! talk to you soon, hugs, > > > Hey Bandster Family, > > I thought I would check in a say Hello and give an update. > > I reached my goal back around my year anniversary in July. Guest guest
Hey , Dr Neal is a great Doc too. I took my husband to get his first fill there. He got his second fill from Kitty (without fluor) and had a great experience. I think it is a good idea to check with fluoro the first time. After that, I have heard without works just fine :0) I love the price too. Kitty Carmichael is at Fill Management Northwest. Her phone number is 360-435-5365. I bet it is less than 2 hours to get from Arlington to Tacoma. Of course, depending on traffic! I live in Lake s and got to Olympia in 1 1/2 hours. If you ever come up this direction I would love to meet you. Let me know in advance and we can go out for some soup (after your fill) :0) I hope you are planning on attending the Bash here in Seattle over Presidents Day weekend. It would be great to get a HUGE Aceves fan club there. I am in charge of Registration and I hope to be able to start registering people in the next week or two. WE just confirmed that it will be at The Marriott at Sea-Tac. Spread the word :0) I am so happy you are banded. Hang in there for your first fill. Once you get some good restriction you will experience the real band. You take Care! Re: Who would have thought-and unfill! HI I am also from Washington (I think there are alot of us:-). Guest guest
WOW thanks for the update on you! I know what you mean about the weird feeling of not being hungry. Weren’t you a little scared getting saline out? I think I am at my sweet spot but I guess if I started looking “boney” I would get some out too. Weird that you don’t have to work at it anymore huh? Yes, the beauty of the band and why I chose it was it’s versatility! You go girl! I am so proud of you! Guest guest
It is kinda cool I just said it in another reply to but having the versatility to fill and unfill is why I chose the band (or one of the reasons). I can see myself 5 yrs from now and I am STILL THIN because I can adjust the band to my needs. Guest guest
hi Phyllis, how far out did you get your first fill? I wrote to Nina and havnt heard back yet about how soon I can get my first fill. Do you know how many CC's they filled you with? How do they do the fill? do they fill it then make you drink the barium to see how the band is working? I am going to go to Dr. Neil at first and then I think I may try the person goes to for the second. Cant beat that price! It would be worth the drive for me. I am going to really have to watch myself for these next few weeks, because I have little restriction and I think that can be very deceptive. Because when you dont have your body telling you to " stop " I think it can be easy to put to much in. and I am afraid to do that, because I dont want to injure my band at all! what are you going to do if you dont end up feeling enough restriction? are you going to go and get a little more put in? Isnt it amazing on how different each person is? some people only need tiny amounts to feel restriction and others need much more. it sounds like a fine line. and it also sounds like a overfill is pure hell!!! so the line is very, very fine!! I think it also depends on the band that you end up getting. Thank you so much for getting me that info. I have a feeling I am going to need alot of fills, so it is great to know that I have options!! :-) And yes we should get together when I come up there. and I am diffenatly going to the bash!! YOu can count me in for sure! I would help with the arangements, but my schedule is totally crazy busy and I dont have alot of " free " or " extra " time, so I may not be that much help. sorry. but I will be there for sure!! It will be great to meet all the bandsters and see the doctors and Nina again. I look very foward to it!! :-) you guys have a great day, big hugs, ps, someone mentioned before getting the Washington people together once in awhile for soup or something, I think that is a fabulous idea!!!! > > > > > > > > > Hey Bandster Family, > > > > > > I thought I would check in a say Hello and give an update. > > > > > > I reached my goal back around my year anniversary in July. Guest guest
Hey Penny, Good to hear from you. I can't wait to see you at The Seattle Bash :0) How have your travels been? Every time I hear from you there is another adventure in the works. Where are you going next? I love to hear about your visits with friends and family. Yesterday was my first day will almost no restriction. I want my fill back!!! I can eat anything. That is a scary thought. I am really going to have to watch it and turn up the exercise volume. I may go for a little more of a fill next week. There has to be a happy medium. I don't want too much restriction because I really don't want to lose more weight. If I gain 5 more that would be OK. I would love to stay around 130 lbs. 125 is too low for me. I need my restriction :0) I love the feeling of the band when I am not hungry and I never think of food. Maybe this is new not to have restriction, but I thought of food all day yesterday. I even ate bread. Ugh! Today I am going to buck up and really watch and write down what I eat. I am so happy to be in a size 4 that I don't want to jeopardize all the hard work. My husband thinks I am obsessing over my unfill. But I am sure you can imagine the fear of going back. I know I took too much out. So, next week it is going back in! I am going to go back up to a restriction of 2. You will be here sooner than you know. You looked great when I saw you this summer. You are there in my book. I wish you the best too, Have a great day! I am off to a career day all day to promote the Massage School. I will be back on the computer later tonight. :0) Re: Who would have thought-and unfill! Hi Wow! You have really lost even more weight than when I saw you a little over a month ago! I bet you are feeling great. I know you look great and I am sure glad your hand is better! I hope Amy is doing better now too. Congratulations on reaching your final goal--keep us all posted on how the unfill is working for you. We are all envious and hope to reach our goal weights and can go on mainteance like you have done. Best wishes,Penny> > > >> > > > > > > > Hey Bandster Family,> > > > > > > > I thought I would check in a say Hello and give an update.> > > > > > > > I reached my goal back around my year anniversary in July. > [] > > I> > > > originally set a goal of 140 lbs.
