Guest guest
, Welcome to the board. I have a question for you before I post my story....where are you? Not that it really matters but if you are in an area where someone on this board lives, you may get to talk to someone or see someone in person. If you are like most of us, you probably don't know anyone else who has a lapband and to find someone close to you is a real godsend! I'm at work so I don't have time to post much right now but I will! Or, you can email me privately at giftedtch@... Guest guest
, Don't freak-out about the hospital..it was so clean and felt like a resort more than a hospital!! My 23 yr old daughter not only had to get over her fear of flying but also her first surgery ever that happened to be in a different country! Whew.. So your not alone in being scared, I think most of us were at least a little..until we got there and saw how nice everyone was and what a beautiful hospital it was! No fears from us.. I'd go back tomorrow if I needed any surgery and that's the truth! Good luck on your Journey!! Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. Everyone has walked in your shoes, so we know the feelings that you are going through. I too did not have any insurance so I used money that I had saved up to pay for the surgery, best thing I've done thus far in my life. I went to the hospital by myself, and you'll find others here who have done the same. The hospital is very very nice, and very very VERY Clean...they have the same equipment as we do here in the US, the only difference is they really do support you and care for you. Everyone on the team is very caring, and they pop in so many times throughout the day you'll begin to feel at home. I had never had a big surgery like this either, th eclosest surgery was having my wisdom teeth pulled...big deal! But everything went well and I enjoyed my stay there that I look forward to going back for fills. As for paying for the surgery, you can talk to Nina she has some loan options that you can try. I am sure there have been a few here on the obard that have used these companies with success. The cost of the surgery is $8,200.00 you have to put up $500 refundable if you back out to schedule a date. Anywho, talk to Nina regarding funding she is really good about helping people find good loan options. If you are interested in knowing what the lapband is all about and the feelings that go behind it, I suggest you read 's website: tracyslapband.com, very informative. Also, you can read my blog at www.blogsource.com (Search: Kelli's Belly) it should pop up. Gee, I know there are more out there so give a holler and maybe someone else can come up with some other sources. You can always check out Obesityhelp.com as well and do some more research on the lapband and Dr. Aceves. Anywho, welcome to the board...you've tapped in on a great bunch of people here that are here to support each other. Take Care! Good Luck! Guest guest
I'm not a bander, but hang out here as a happy little mascot, but I think and someone else please speak up, that it is also tax deductible because it is not like Plastic surgery, I've yet to check into that myself because my surgey is next week (gastric by pass) and it will be a whole year before I worry about 07 taxes. I only one tax year at a time.
Guest guest
Thank you so much, And I am so happy for your success.... May you keep loosing and may god continue to bless you... If you are planning to have surgery with Dr. A, which is a great choice, your insurance does not cover the surgery down in Mexico. You would have to come up with the cash, or use a credit card or finance the surgery through a Medicredit or any other finance company that will finance surgeries. I used Medicredit and Nina would be able to give you information on who to contact. She also can e-mail you more information of the band. Guest guest
Hi my name is Donnie, I live in georgia and I had the surg in June in Mexico,Dr A did the surg.He is a very good doctor and cares about people you can tell.and has done many of these surg I was in surg 30 min to 45 min at most,I was up the same day ,walking up and down the halls.I rested well that night .I was there for one more day and left the next day. I was scared ,but sometime you have to over come fears.you may have some pain and the first month is a little hard too.but you will get better and at some point be glad you made this choice.I have been fighting my weight for years and nothing i did worked for me,I took pills on every diet you can think of I would lose some but i always put it back on and gain extra pounds too.my mother died because of her weight and diebites .They told her to lose weight and she could get better.I seen her suffer for years .I tell you ,I not want to die like she did ,I made my choice and i am glad that I did and I think you will to, you will have to find a doctor that will do your fills .the fills is the key to your weight lose,or plan on going back to Mexico. you wll need a passport.I think the post office has the forms. I don,t know if that help much because ,in the end it your choice.good lucy Donnie <bgonzales2577@...> wrot: My name is , And i am looking into having the lap band done, but i am truly TERRIFIED.. you are talking to someone who has never even had stictches..
