Nothing is wrong with you (or the same thing is wrong with me) I got a fill April fools of 2cc, my girlfriend went with me, has the same size band, received the same fill. She pb's on lots of solids (perhaps too full) and I feel little or no restriction. I ate a whole 3 egg cheese and ham omelet (none of the side stuff like spuds or bread). I am going back in for another fill on the 29th. I only PBed on Steak and some dry fish. Keep trying and you will hit that wonderful "Sweet Spot" that leaves you with a full feeling without backflow. Also make sure you are not drinking with meals or too soon after a meal.

// I can also eat and eat and eat....I feel no restriction. //

you already know this but, just because you can eat does not mean

you should :-)

If you are just starving, and food is going right through, I would say

your band is too lose.

I think you might try solid foods again. You must chew very, very well

or the food will get stuck. I would not start with chicken as it

usually gets stuck (for me anyway). I would try something like ground

beef which is a lot easier to chew up.

You should also know that you can not eat very much when it comes to

solid food. Less then 1/2 a cup total maybe less. Also remember, do

NOT eat for more then 20 minutes (this is hard at first). If you do,

you are defeating the purpose of the band.

Since you are still new to all this, you will want to eat more then you

can and you will think that you have not eaten enough. Let me assure

you of 1 thing, you will NOT starve to death. We have enough fat in

storage to keep us going for months without food. It really is all

about re training your brain right now. It will take a long time but

eventually, you will learn that a little food goes a long way.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Shari! I appreciate your comments. I'll never be full on the foods I'm

eating right

now....but I can't eat anything else yet, so I guess I will just have to ride it

out. I want to

be losing weight and I'm not.

Wow !

I never quite had the experience you are having! I

just had a fill last Friday and had the first part

with PBing and watering mouth but it has kind of gone

away since I used my head and quit taking that one

last bite after I felt full! Maybe you can try a few

bites of chicken again--or have you? I eat a lot of

chicken and fish. I have to have sauces with them to

keep them moistened, though. Ideally you should be

able to eat protein, veges and then if you still feel

hungry some carbs. My fill Dr. all of a sudden is

pushing the fresh fruits too. I can't do very much of

any of them but I try. Also my fill Dr. says to take

1 bite, wait 3 minutes before taking another bite to

make sure you are not satisfied. Do this for each

bite and that your whole meal should take about 15

minutes(that's only 5 bites!) I wait about 2 minutes

if I am having problems but otherwise I wait about a

minute. Don't get impatient, it all will settle down

and your weight WILL come off. Just keep trying to

ease off the liquids and mushies and get on to solid

food when your body is ready--and it will be soon, I

think.

Hang in there! and be patient! I am down 1 1/2 lbs.

since my fill!

Thank you Penny. Yea, this is crazy what I'm going through. I'm disappointed

and I am

really wondering if the band just isn't going to work for me. I hear there are

some people

that it doesn't help.

I just want to not be hungry! Thats why I got this band so I wouldn't eat so

much! This is

frustrating!

,

Don't get discouraged now! The band will work if you

work with it! Give it a little time and if you

definitely can't eat any solid food without PBing then

you may need that unfill! My daughter waited for over

6 months with too tight of a fill and I would not

recommend that. See what happens in the next week or

so and then talk to Nina if you still can't eat solid

food without PBing.

Good Luck

,

Ok let's start with the facts.

The band works and it does not decide who it will work for and who it will not work for. It does what it is supposed to do , restrict the amount of food you can eat. Period. There are rules though and you already know them: no liquids with your food, chew very well, etc.

There is nothing wrong with you, you just need to learn how to use your new tool to make it work. Again the band works how it works it will not say "well she is trying I will give her a break" either you do it right or it does not work.

It is not fair to say that the band works works for some and not for some other ones. The band will work for each and every person that wants to use it properly.

Granted it is easier for some than it is for others. You just need to decide if the pay off is worth it. We have all tried things that we are not successful in and when we give up we decide at that point that the pay off is not worth it. Is it worth it to you?

It is all in the attitude. Do you want his bad enough to change? I mean really change what you are doing and have been doing for some time. You will never get a full feeling like when you were overeating. If this is what you are expecting it will not happen. Food at that point was satisfying more than hunger, people do not overeat because they are hungry. Food at this point ( with your band) will only feed you, it will not help with the other issues food was helping with before. You need to redefine what "hunger" means to you.

The band will do it's part: limit how much you can eat.

Are you exercising? This will not only help lose weight but will get the endorphins going and making you feel good, happier, more energized. This is a commitment and you need to change all accross the board , not just stop eating because the band won't let you, limiting the food intake is the beginning. This is an opportunity to really change your eating habits and start a healthier life by commiting to a program.

, you can be successful! You are only about 2 months out and you are already thinking this will not work for you. Look at all the hundreds of successful bandsters. Never for a minute think that it just happend, they worked with it and made it happen themselves. Day by day , lbs by lbs, mile by mile , they worked for it. Again the road is easier for some, this is true but it does not mean it is not attainable by everybody.

I have seen a few unsuccessful bandsters and have seen a pattern, it starts with attitude. You need to change everything and ina few months everything will have changed an dyou will be living a new way of life, you will never want to go back to he old ways. We want you to be very successful and lose all the weight you need to lose. We are all here to help but really it is all done by you. In the end no one else will take the credit or enjoy the rewards.

With lots of love,

Nina

Help - I am sooo full. I've only had my one broth today, but it was a total of about 1 1/2 cups - took me all day. I've been drinking water and gatorade and my belly (my lower stomach) is very full. Unfortunately, I'm a bit hungry. There's not much protein in anything I'm eating/drinking. Might I be overdoing the fluids? The gatorade is about 125 calories for the 20 oz bottle. Don't think I'm going nuts with calories - just lots of fluid volume. Mistake?? Thanks. PD

THANK YOU NINA!!! I had to print your comments out on paper and I now have them hanging by my computer. What you said I hope really had an impact on me. I am only 8 days out of surgery so I am really new at all this but everytime I doubt myself I will read your "OKAY LETS START WITH THE FACTS" paper LOL Thanks Nina! Tammy I. DOB-4/20/06 248/237/130
