Guest guest
-Hi Eileen, My name is Dana and I researched Dr. A back in Oct 05' until I had surgery Feb 1,06. I could not find one, not one negative thing about him or his staff or the hospital or his credentials!! I read all these sites as I'm sure you have and I choose him because of his credentials as a American board certified surgeon as well as many other califications. His web site mentions these and I'm sure Yolanda could e-mail you with them all. Bottom-line, I would go again in a heart beat, and feel I made a great choice in choosing Dr. Aceves! Mexico... well, every one thought " are you out of your* & #$^@ mind? " And for some reason going to mexico never bothered me, after-all americans pay big money to vacation in cancun, cozmel(typo)to get drunk everyday at the beaches or out on the town for a week or so and make it home ok. I figured I was going to be escorted the whole time, in a hospital, and then escorted back and not about to be drinking so I was probably safer than the vacationers! and I was! Hope this helps:) -- In , Eileen H <eileenrpr@...> wrote: > > I am looking to possibly have surgery by Dr. Aceves. Has anyone had any issues with him or having surgery in Mexico? Guest guest
Thank you Dana, for your response. I am new to this group and am really enjoying reading and learning what you all write. You eased my mind considerably.....thanks again. Another question.....what are your diets like 6 months down the road? Are you still eating mushies or most anything you want ...just in small amounts? OF COURSE....nutritious small amounts I meant to say. Eileen > > > > I am looking to possibly have surgery by Dr. Aceves. Has anyone > had any issues with him or having surgery in Mexico? Guest guest
Hi Eileen, 6 months down the road you should be able to eat smaller amounts of about anything but it will depend on your fills. some people are very restricted when they first get their fills and then they might only be able to drink liquids for a few days and then mushies and finally regular food again. It might only be 3 bites before they feel full. It is a big learning process and we learn by trial and error! but yes, you are able to eat most regular foods after about 6-8 weeks. Guest guest
Hi Eileen, Just wanted to let you know that I too will be having surgery with Dr. A, but not until May 31. I also chose him for his credentials and could not find one negative thing about him....and believe me, I looked and looked! My parents went to Mexicali the end of Feb. and Yolanda gave them a tour of the hospital, etc. They also took pictures for me and said that they wouldn't even think twice about going there for surgery. Everything was SO clean and nice. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. I've researched many Dr.'s and my " gut feeling " tells me this is the one I need to go with---so I have my date!!! Hope this helps and you also decide to have surgery with him--I don't think that you will be sorry. Brown > > > > > > I am looking to possibly have surgery by Dr. Aceves. Guest guest
HI EILEEN, I'm only 61/2 weeks out and I can eat just about anything I want. Steak and pizza dough seem to be the only things that kinda feel "bulky" going down so I really have only tried them once so far. But pretty much every thing else, and it is atleast half of what I would have eaten before. I go for my first fill next week and am sure that I'll have to really whatch my choices as to not pb-ing (productive burping) as others have had. But I'm ready to get back on the losing wave. Guest guest
Hello Eileen, I was banded 8/11/05, so I'm just past the "6 months down the road" point. I can eat almost anything (except Lloyds BBQ shredded pork! OUCH!!!) you just eat a much smaller portion than you ever did before and you're satisfied. Last night we had Chinese takeout. I had some Hot & Sour soup and a bit of moo-shoo pork (no pancake wrap) and I was fine. You learn, from sometimes painfull experience, to eat s l o w l y. This is still my biggest problem. I sometimes let myself get too hungry and then I gobble my food and start "sliming" (excessive thick saliva) and have to excuse myself to spit it out. I have PB'd a few times but not on a regular basis. Liz, 275/218/135, #1 fill: 11/25/05 1.9cc's by Dr. A. > > >> > > I am looking to possibly have surgery by Dr. Aceves.
