If you'e ever expereinced GOUT you know you never want to again. One of the causes is excess protein and your bodies inability to flush it. Is it possible to get TOOO much protein? I drink 2 of the WONDERFUL New Whey Liquid Protein's each day. They have just increased the protein value to 42 grams (from 25) per serving and added the orange flavor to the fruit punch and blueberry selections. This is on top of the protein I get from my meals. Is there a risk of TOO much protein? anyone know? Kari

Do you know how many grams are in 1 oz of protein? is it 28g/oz? I

once knew this but have forgotten--anyone out there know?

Yes it is

possible to get too much protein. I would use the calculator and adjust your

protein accordingly. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water to help flush

out your system.

Ok everyone,

I looked it up and 1 ounce equals 28.34 grams. I wanted to know so

I could figure out how many grams of protein are in like 3 or 4

bites of meat or fish. I found out on the calculator from unjury

that I need 56g of protein ( back awhile ago I needed 70g but that

was on another calculator and I weighed more.) I'm really not being

able to eat much solid food lately. I think I really irritated my

stoma and I can hardly get in the fluids I need let alone anything

else! I think it would be real easy to get too much protein if you

drink a lot of those high protein shakes! I'm hoping to get most of

my protein from solid food if I am not too tight!

I am glad you

figured it out because I wasn’t sure. I use fitday.com to figure calories

and protein in meat and stuff. Doesn’t it differ if it is red meat,

chicken, or fish? I am sorry your stoma is irritated. Take it easy for a while!

Penny,

Not sure what you mean but I am sure it will have to do with what

you are weighing. One ounce of chicken will not have the same

protein as an ounce of milk for example.

It has to do with your weight and hight so it will keep changing as

you contiue to lose weight.

Hi , It's me M. I haven't been on the board for a while, but I've been reading everyone e-mails. I've been doing okay, I was stuck for a while, but weighed in this morning and lost another 2 lbs. I was banded June 29 and have lost a total of 54 lbs. I entered my information on the ticker factory.com, but I can't figure out how to copy and paste it on my e-mails, is there a trick to this. Can you help me figure this out. I'm really excited to see the scale move again. I'm having a fill on the 11th of November and I know after I have that fill I will see many more results. I'm excited. Penny is right in that there are about 28

grams in an ounce and Nina is right in that the amount of protein in an ounce

of something varies by what it is. In the most general of terms there are about

9 grams of protein in an ounce of roasted chicken breast or lean sirloin steak.

There are a lot of tools that can help you determine the quantity of protein

you are getting. I use www.calorieking.com.

You input the food and the portion and it tells you the calories, protein, fat

and carbs in that amount. It is even broken down by brand, cooking method and restaurant.

If you do it for a while you begin to get a sense of what foods have what.
