Guest guest
The Isopure (clear) is the right stuff. I wouldn't buy too much of it. I still have about 6 bottles of that absolutely nasty stuff in my cabinet that I can't GIVE away! Try one before you buy very much! The New Whey Protein tastes MUCH better even though you don't get as much. See if you can find that instead. I have two sons, ages 14 and 15. They knew exactly why I was going. I didn't feel like I could go so far away, have surgery, and not tell them what was going on. When I came home they were very supportive and took on lots of responsibilities for their eating because I did NOT want to have to deal with meals when I was only able to eat liquids. They were supportive because I basically told them that I wanted to do this so I could improve my health so that I would be around to see them grow up AND so that they would have to put up with me much, much longer! I tried to make it lighthearted for them but they were aware of the purpose of the surgery. Because I was so positive about it, so were they. However, they are not 18, nor do either of them have to worry about their weight. You know your children best so you will make the right decision. I am very close to my boys and felt very comfortable telling them what I was doing. In fact, they knew about the surgery long before I decided to have it because we talked about it all during the decision process. Let us know what you decide. Good luck (although you won't need it). As strange as it sounds, ENJOY your trip! Jenni Currie DOB 2/23/06 231/155/145gracesfalling <Gracefall@...> wrote: Someone help please! She is already weight obsessed and is 5'5" and 115lbs in a size 6 she would look at this as being an "easy" solution. I think that I will eventually tell them, once they see for several months that I am still watching what and how much I eat that it's not just some easy simple solution. Guest guest
I found the isopure fruit flavors in the bottle. There was 1 in the powder (fruit punch). At GNC keep looking or order it. Guest guest
I don't have an answer on the protein because during my clear stage I drank alot of water, broth soups, sugar free Popsicles and Pedialyte. The reason why I drank Pedialyte was, because there was times I couldn't hold anything down and I felt dehydrated. I didn't have any protein until I was able to have the Vanilla and Choc late flavors, and they I bought a small tub of the Whey protein in both flavors and still have it. I wanted to share with you that I did tell my kids I was having surgery. I printed out information on the band and pictures and told them exactly what I was doing. They were concern that I wasn't going to die and that I would be okay after the surgery. Both of my babies, Jacqui 10 and Josh 8 were my little nurses along with my hubby. They now watch what I eat and they ask me mom are you okay, or are you going to be okay if you eat that, and at first it did bug me, but I see that they are just concern. I have lost a total of 62 lbs in 5 mos and the kids tell me everyday how pretty I look. I'm a happier person and I laugh more often now. Before I was hateful and bitter, I was very unhappy with myself and took it out on my family. The first time my kids were able to wrap there arms completely around me was such a special moment for all of us, I remember my daughter's face, she says mom you are getting smaller. That made my day. It's up to you to share this with your kids, my kids are very supportive and have walked down the tough road with me. Good Luck on your decision. Guest guest
Grace, here are two good places that you can use that are online. 1. www.idssports.com - New-Whey Liquid Protein - 25 grams, 0 carbs, 0 fat. Can be used in the clear liquid phawse, Flavors are Blue Raspberry Swirl and Fruit Punch Swirl. It should be ordered before your surgery as it takes about a week to get it shipped to you UPS. I mix a little lemon/lime drink with it and crushed ice and it is very tasty. 2. www.unjury.com - Each package contains 20 grams of protein. Can be mixed with milk in second phase or with water and crushed ice in phase 1. I purchased a variety pack of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry and all were pretty good. Check them out before your surgery so they will be there when you return. Hope this helps. C Tampa, FL DOB 9-7-06 240/220/150ish > >gracesfalling <Gracefall@...> wrote: > Someone help please! Guest guest
I was also wondering about the liquid protein drinks. Has anyone tried the protein drink mix from Herbalife? It is a power drink mix that makes a clear drink that has 15 gms of protein, 2 gms of carbs , comes in peach/mango and fruit punch flavors, they really are delicious. I hope they fit the doctors specifications for liquid protein, because that is what I'd choose to drink. > > Someone help please! Guest guest
Hi Grace, I spoke to my daughter Jacqui, 22 and son Ronnie19 (ages in Feb) about the surgery when I first started researching it. They had many months to "prepare" themselves before I actually went to Mexico. My husband & son were more worried about my safety, but trusted my decision. My daughter showed no emotion until I returned! She had 'anxiety" everynight I was gone, she said. They were all relieved when I returned home. My daughter "got over" her anxiety and headed to Mexico in July to be banded and she's never looked back. They all said I didn't need it, do it here, why? ect..but they eventually understood my desire for the surgery and the choice to have it done in Mexico. They all love Dr.A & the staff for keeping us safe and changing our lives! Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "gracesfalling" <Gracefall@...> Someone help please! Can you tell I'm getting excited! (and > a > > tad scared) > > >Hello, I am responding to your question about when and how to tell your kids and other family members. I feel that is a very personal decision. It is hard to know what is right to tell each person. Back in August 2002, my doctor at Kaisr had referred me to the bariartic department for by-pass. I discussed it with my husband and oldest daughter and they were both very supportive. My youngest daughter who was 16 at the time cried. She was convinced that something was going to happen to me. Mid September I ended up in the hospital for 10 days. I had multiple blood clots in both lungs. My doctor told me I could not have the surgery now because blood clots are a major complication of the bi-pass surgery. My daughter cried and told me she knew something bad would happen if I had the surgery. I chose not to tell my youngest son or any of my extended family. Now, I am back but looking at the lap-band. I have decided that only my husband and I need to know at this point...for obvious reasons. If I do get approval and move ahead I have decided not to disclose to anyone until well after the surgery. My grandson told me the other day that he wishes there was some way to help grandma so that she could get around better and not hurt all the time. You will know when the time is right. But...do not let anyone tell you that this is a quick fix. It is only a tool. The work is still up to each of us individually.
