Dear Carolyn,

Any time you have skin touching skin, you have a tendency to sweat. This

creates a warm, moist environment that yeast absolutely LOVES. I, too, have gone

through all you have done, to no avail.

I know this is a costly response, and one you may not wish to entertain, but

the only thing that worked for me was plastic surgery. Abdominoplasty/tummy

tuck, mastopexy/breast lift, and a complete arm and leg reduction with lipo.

$46,000 later (had to have revisions due to poor choice of first surgeon)...no

more pain or rashes.

Best regards,

These rashes don't sound like rashes but they do sound like yeast

infections. They have to be treated with prescription ointments, powders or

creme. Be

sure to cument them though because they can ben an incentive for your

insurance provider to pay for plastic surgery in the future! I guess that's the

silver lining. I used to dry the skin area with my hair dryer, then use powder

and

sometimes even towels that I had cut into strips to absorb the moisture.

Nothing worked completely though until I had a tummy tuck to rid myself of the

flab.

Wishing you solutions and success!

I have had problems with this before and it was yeast infections. This really

flared up in my groin area right before my 11/14/06 surgery. I tried spreading

some of the cream from my over-the-counter vaginal yeast medicine in those areas

and it cleared up in a couple of days and hasn't been back since. Give it a try!

Hi Jill

Leanna Owen here. You have what is called a galled. I get them from time to

time. Usually when I have been sweating alot. I use tinactin to help get over

it. I shower first, them blow dry, and apply the tinactin. I will warn you, it

will burn. But will clear up pretty fact. My husband also uses it for

occassional rashes. Using the same method. Hope this helps.

What did I do.. have plastic surgery to remove the skin. This is a

documented medical reason justifying necessity of skin removal if you

have insurance coverage. See a surgeon....

Otherwise, I don't honestly know what to tell you. The skin is the

problem...

Jill,

I have heard these types of rashes could qualify you, for your insurance to

pay for some plastic surgery. When you get rashes like that in skin folds it

is a danger so check it out with your doc, you could have a tummy tuck and

get it paid for by your insurance, as well as a breast augmentation.

I am going through the same thing as you but I am only 16 months out

and I have lost 238 pounds in 16 months. I am putting Antifungal

cream on the yeast Infections that my regualr doctor told me what we

are having it a Yeast Infection. My regular Doctor told me to wash

that area at least 2 or 3 times aday and put Antifungal cream there

and it has help me. I also was told by some other people that had the

surgery they put baby oil there but I do not know how good it works.

I hepe this helps.

I would love to have surgery. Yes, I have insurance but I haven't lost all of my

weight. I don't think I'm going to. I've been stuck here for over a year and I'm

three years out. I weighed 340 before surgury and 190 now. I'm still a very big

girl at five feet tall. But, I am happy and can function where I couldn't

before. I was getting around on a scooter so many problems that I don't have

now. Now I look like a lot of other fat people not the freak that I felt like

before. I would love to loose another 100 pounds but if I don't like I said I

don't feel like a freak anymore just another fat person that blends in and

doesn't stick out. No more high blood pressure, diabetes, I can walk. Jill

go to a dermatologust & get it documented. They will have proper meds for

it AND by documenting it, if you want plastic surgery later on to remove the

excess skin - Insurance will pay for it because its documented that the loose

skin is causing a yeast infection (which is what it most likely is).

Fellow MGber's,

Here is a thought. This might be a fungus instead of rash.

You might need to try something they use for fungus and see if

it goes away. My reasoning for this is that my mother in law

had something similar. I took her to doctor because nothing

was working for an extended time. She took one look and said

it was a fungus. We got some antifungal spray liquid

(Tinactin) over the counter at Wal Mart. It worked and she

wasn't bother with it again. Not this lady was obese by any

means. But her skin did hang on her boobs, tummy due and

underarms due to weight loss(she was 89). So try that are ask

your primary care doctor about it. I think is it kind of like

H Pilory(sp) and ulcers, there can be more than one cause to

an illness.

No, I'm not a doctor and I'm not prescribing anything just a

suggestion to see if it helps. I'm sure this can be meserible

not and in the summer time.

FYI .. insurance companies almost never pay for an " augmentation " ..

they will however pay for a reduction or a " lift " ... I had a lift

which actually reduced my breast size by 3 cup sizes! I had NO breast

tissue removed, just skin... and yes the insurance company paid for

it.

Even if you are not at your goal weight if your skin is causing you

medical issues .. and it sounds like it is .. you can consider having

a " tummy tuck " . My mother died from what started as a similar

issue .. long story ... but this is not something to mess around

with. It is a lot more than just a nuisance.

I had a rash under my breast prior to surgery and the Hibiclen scrub healed it,

never to return for about 4 years. I recently had it again and scrubbed again

and hopefully will resolve it for another 4 years.

Please be carefull w/ what you perceive to be a plain old rash. I had what I

thought was a couple dry skin patches on my stomach & under my breast for about

a year........long story shortened......went to my dermatologist & I have what

is called Localized Scleroderma. There is Scleroderma that is in your

body/blood & causes your organs to harden & then there is what I have

" localized " or " on the skin " & it has caused me pain while in it's early stages,

but I have had it for 2 years now & only have 2 new spots on my legs & most of

the pain & spreading is minimized by some strong medications that I apply daily.

So, please do not assumen anything.......see a dermatologist for a qualified

medical opinion.

Jill,

I am 6 years out from having my MGB. I had these rashes that you

are speaking of really bad for a couple of years. At first they

treated them as yeast infections but I still had the problems. They

would get so bad they bled. They finally decided that it was

actually a staph infection. We were able to get documentation from

the doctor that I had been to and we took pictures of it. Using

that information I was able to get my insurance company to help pay

for me to have my apron of skin removed. They would not pay for a

tummy tuck becaust that was considered cosmetic but they would cover

the other. That was fine with me because I have never had a problem

since. Good luck with whatever your outcome is.

To add my two cents here, first of all GO to a doctor to document and TAKE

PICTURES...keep going to the doctor NOW and make them document it and KEEP

taking pictures. It will all help you when you decide and IF you decide to

go the PS route in the future. was a PRO at this!

But, I had the same problem before I lost weight. The product that helped me

the most was Vagisil powder, sold in most grocery stores. Used daily after a

shower that stuff WORKED...so there's another idea! It has an anti-fungal in

it and it helped to keep the skin dry which is most of the problem.

I have ten years of documented cases of rashes and skin problems, I

was just turned down by my insurance company even with two referrals
