my surgery cost approximately $25,000

From: ask me <supakid113@...>cholesteatoma Sent: Friday, December 19, 2008 12:32:58 AMSubject: Cholesteatoma cost

I know this is a difficult thing to analyze, but what can I expect tobe the average cost for cholesteatoma treatment?I was involved in a car accident this past July, which resulted inhearing loss and tinnitus. The doctor thinks I might developcholesteatoma as a result. I'm trying to settle an insurance claimagainst the at-fault driver, but I need to know information on whatthis might cost. I read online that a mastiodectomy might cost around$4-5,000 ... so I know it's at least that much.Thank you for any help!

my MRI and CT Scan only was $7,000 which was not included in the 25,000 - good luck!

Since most of us deal with this for the rest of our lives ... this could

get very expensive. It would depend on whether you have insurance or

not. It's been a long time since my first surgery, but that one was

tens of thousands of dollars. It was quite long. Then you have hearing

aid expenses the rest of your life, follow-up appointments, additional

surgeries, etc.

I doubt any court can definitively state a cause for cholesteatoma

(since most leading otologists won't answer the question).

Another thing to remember is that you now have a pre-existing

condition, which can effect whether or not you can obtain insurance coverage on

your own as an individual in the future.

I think Chloe is getting close to a million now with 11 surgeries, and all the Ct scans, hearing tests, medicines, etc...She's worth it, but I think you can see that Matt is right about the costs being diffficult to predict.
