Guest guest
I just went last week also to get my ear cleaned out. He pulled out some scar tissue and it hurt pretty bad. It hurt all over -- It seemed like it was in my temple, jaw and down my neck. He had to stop because it was stuck so bad. I'm now having to do vinegar and water washes and then return in a couple weeks. But, I have to tell you, before I had my canaloplasty my doctor was pulling out HUGE pieces of -- be prepared -- mold!! What grows in damp, dark places???? The canaloplasty made a huge difference; I have not had any infections since then (14 years). Awesome about your hearing! I'm still at 70 dB in my c-toma ear, although I haven't had a hearing test in some time. I know after my cleaning that sounds are really sharp and loud to me. Please keep us posted about what is going on!!! Isley

Sometimes when i am speaking i hear this funning vibrating that goes along with my voice.I have had a cholesteatoma removed last year and a mastoid ectomy and a tube.Could it be my tube comming out? Guest guest
Hi, I had a canal wall up procedure done and I had a large scabby thing removed after the surgery. And like you it didn't hurt, just felt really weird and it was really loud! Even with no hearing bones... Glad you are doing so well! Guest guest
Hi , If it is a new sound I would venture to guess it might be the tube coming out. But if it is a sound you have had off and on all along it is probably something relative to the new configuration of your ear. I get that sound when my good ear is blocked and has a little fluid behind it - drives me nuts! And the tube in your ear can get blocked as well though I'm not sure how often that happens. It wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about it. Hang in there! Guest guest
Once an individual has CWD, I understand that the ear must be " cleaned out " a few times a year. What all does this involve and does the patient have to be put under anesthesia?
Guest guest
I lie on my back and turn my head to the side; the doctor then uses a small hoover-type instrument and suctions out my ear, moving carefully around the mastoid cavity and the middle ear - it can be quite uncomfortable, sometimes a little painful, but anaesthesia is neither required nor offered. Kazzy xx Re: ear cleaning Hello,It just involves you laying on you side, and your doc going into your ear canal/ mastoid bowl with a little pick and q-tip and removing wax and debris. It doesn't hurt in the slightest, it actually feels good. Though for me personally it can make me slightly dizzy for a few minutes but it passes. Guest guest
My 5 year old son has been put under anestesia for the cleanings. When we started the cleanings my son was really afraid and cried, so the doc didn't want to traumatize him. We agreed the putting him under was the best way to do it, at least until he is old enough to understand the process. >From: " awbsjb " <keithsheri@...> >Reply-cholesteatoma >cholesteatoma >Subject: ear cleaning >Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 16:53:48 -0000 > >Once an individual has CWD, I understand that the ear must be " cleaned >out " a few times a year.
