Info on pain meds

For people's info, my wife who had THR in April, 2008, took Tramadol for pain

versus oxycontin or equivalent. Tramadol is non-habit forming. Tramadol was

recommended by our stepdaughter while the OS was visiting my wife after surgery

and offered the option.

Throughout my wife's recovery my wife never had to escalate to oxycontin or

equal and so avoided the issues with that medication.

People may consider this option to stay away from the nasty effects of

oxycontin; she did have to take stool softeners with Tramadol as is often

required of any pain med.

mY wife is scheduled for bilateral TKR on 2/22 and plans on trying to get

through PT with Tramadol, if possible.
