Arthroscopic surgery for scar tissue and adhesions after TKR.

I would like some input from anyone who has had to have arthroscopic surgery to

cut out scar tissue after TKR. I had my TKR on 11/18/09 and was very swollen

after surgery for the first 6 weeks (until after my OS prescribed me diclofenec

for the swelling). Therefore, I had trouble trying to get ROM even though I was

going to PT 3x a week. The presciption helped alot with the swelling but we

couldn't get more than 95 degrees flexion. My PT and I requested a MUA at 8

weeks and my OS said that it was too early and he prescribed me to wear a

dynasplint for 6-8 hours a day. I wore the splint for a week and at that point

it had aggravated my IT band on the outside of my knee to the point that I was

limping again, couldn't get on my elliptical trainer, and I was beginning to

lose ROM. Finally at my 12 week checkup my OS said that he would not do a MUA

without first doing arthroscopic surgery to remove the scar tissue and adhesions

and maybe doing a lateral release. He really doesn't want to do this so early

in the game either but I pushed him as I have to get back to work. So in 2 weeks

I am having surgery again and hopefully will get on with things. After this

surgery I will be placed immediately on a CPM and will have daily PT for the 1st

2 weeks. The worst is now the wait for the surgery as I can't take the

diclofenec and so the knee is swelling and painful to walk on. Back to less

time on the elliptical and less time on my feet and more time on the couch with

the ice bag. Has anyone had to go through this and how did it work for you? I

am now scheduled for another 8 weeks off of work and I have lost my job

security.....sure hope that I have a job when I am ready to go back. Thanks for

any input.
