If you suspect yeast die off, try giving activated charcoal about

30-45 minutes after the Nystatin, see if that helps.

You might need to give the Nystatin with No-Fenol enzyme.

Yeast die off tends to cause potty accidents.

> We also started her on the following supplements yesterday:

> Calcium/Magnesium liquid 1 tsp

> Cod liver oil 1/2 tsp

> Liquid Zinc 1 1/2 tsp

Drop them, wait a few days, then add back one at a time.

No-Fenol, charcoal, or both. You can also reduce the dose of the

Nystatin, or have it compounded to eliminate other ingredients that

maybe she does not tolerate.

> I was told the supplements she didn't need her body would throw-out.

Depends on what you are giving and whether or not she tolerates them.

I have one of my four kids who is low copper, and I have to give him

an occasional copper supplement or he will have problems. The other

three needed zinc tho.

> I have been unable to see major gains/regressions

My son had problems with EVERY supplement I ever gave him. So I

decided to chelate him. Chelation removed all his food and supplement

intolerances, and gut yeast issues, altho did not do the WOW results

that other parents notice. However, then I was able to add

supplements, which caused the WOW results for my son.

So for my son, chelation allowed him to tolerate foods and the

supplements, and the supplements recovered him.

> I hate that my son is NOT that black and while when it

After chelation, my son was much more noticeable with good/bad

reactions to things. I used ALA for chelation.

Hi Bobbie,

Yeah, I always gave it to him on a full stomach. I take zinc too

(cause I'm deficient!), so I can relate to the sensitive stomach

issues!

Thanks,

While bear in mind..I am not a " poop " expert but it sounds like it

is working. The foul odor and color seem to indicate yeast die off

and removal. So..yes indeed it is working.

We used nystatin for a 3 month course (I think). The dose was 500,000

units or 5 cc/ 1 teaspoon every 8hrs. It worked while we took it but

when we finally stopped, her yeast issues came back in less than a

month. The diflucan/flagyl combo worked much better for us. It was a

nice short course and the effect lasted about 6 months.

500,000 IUs (pills) three times per day for one year.

It works great!

P.S. My son is 8 and weights 54 lbs.

Sheri, that is intersting. I have tried Diflucan and it works but I think it is

harsh to take long term.

Wow that is alot of units. What does it come as a liquid or something?

What is flagyl? I've never tried that, but think the diflucan is good. What

did you notice with it? I noticed having more energy, and less yeast infection

itch.

Does it make a difference the pills vs powder? I'm trying to figure out what it

would say so I can ask my dr as he is more familair with Diflucan.

Diflucan is a greater problem with the liver.

Nystatin works only in the gut and is not

absorbed into the blood. The pills don't taste

bad.

If you go with Diflucan, you might want to have it compounded. It

has aluminum in it otherwise. I am trying to figure out whether

that isn't responsible for my son's consistently rising aluminum

hair levels...

FWIW, my son's liver function has only improved while he has been on

Diflucan. I don't think I would attribute the improvement to the

diflucan itself, but sometimes there is more stress on the body by

having it go haywire with yeast, viruses, etc. than there is by

treating them with things that are considered stressful to the

system.

This may be his way of letting you know he is uncomfortable.

Is his bottom itching him? Is he having pain in the abdomen? Yeast can cause

some awful GI things. Could be die off but I'm no expert.

Hi,

Its been 3 days since I started my child on Nystatin.

Approximately a month before this we started him on supplements and

probiotics. The difference we have noticed since we started Nystatin

is that he is having BM daily (he was constipated earlier 1 in 4 days

which became 1 in 2 days after supp/probiotics started) . Also he is

putting his hands through his pants and diaper and touching his butt

practically throughout the day. At one time he was trying to pinch

his abdomen. Does this mean the anti-fungal medicine is working?

or is it becoming hard on his system?? Anybody who has given anti-

fungal treatment to their child what changes did you notice

after starting the medicine? How long can nystatin be given safely ?

We have also put him on anti-yeast diet since the day medication

started.

Thanks,

Sudha

For my son, it would have meant the yeast from inside his gut, was

migrating and being eliminated.

Hi,

Just to clarify, we are covered in fungus (candida

albicans) all the time. This includes skin, mouth and

genitals. When we take something to suppress our

immune systems, it often results in over-growth of

these buggers. Hence a yeast infection.

Nystatin cream can be applied to skin and it also

comes in liquid form as a swish and swallow.

When fungus becomes intense, fluconozole (the one a

day pill for vaginal infections) becomes key. This one

does interact with many cardiac drugs though so your

prescriber needs to know your history.

Thanks for your reply Amy,

Are you living in the UK too? I thought i was going to have to have a

tantrum to get the nystatin as the Doctor was a " newbie " and had to

ring another Doctor to get advise, i ended up speaking to the other

Doctor on the phone, who tried to tell me that nystatin is topical,

lucky for me i had come across Nystatin before for my daughter who had

a bad case of oral thrush. She then agreed to give me the

prescription, the trouble i believe is that they have come across this

before - the yeast in the gut - and they really haven't a clue how

long to treat it for.

it...so if she only gave a week then she only gave a week... that

does sound a tad strange??? we have ours done at a cmpd pharmacy. i

give 1 ml 4X a day but it equals a totaly of 2 million units/day.i

know some folks even go higher. if the dr DID perscribe more... then

the pharm can't deny it... they should give you a month work i'd think...
