Hi Marina,

There are really no stupid questions. Better to try to find answers

than not to ask, I think.

I found the following. If you scroll to the bottom it says wait three

months post surgery to wear high heels.

http://www.jointreconstruction.com/opcare/hip6.htm

But keep in mind, wearing high heels throws all of the body off balance

and can contribute to problems down the line with other joints. So

probably just save it for special occasions. IMHO.

Hi Marina!

I was able to enjoyably wear high heels after both my TLHR at the age

of 39 in 1993 and after my revision last year. It took me longer after

the revision to get used to walking in them again, but it sure is fun.

Though according to my doctor they are very bad for the hip, something

about rotation and wear. So I only wear them for dinner out and such.

I wear regular heels and low heels otherwise.

But yes!

Enjoy!

Marina, you should ask Dr DeSmet. He seems pretty cool. If wearing heels again is a concern or hope of yours you should express it. Each doc's restrictions and recommendations seem to be a little different, and I'm beginning to wonder how much it has to do with the patient anatomy and how the surgery and recovery goes. I look forward to following your adventure and hope you are wearing heels and pain free soon. -Barb in WA, R CDH

I have both hips replaced and have been known to wear heels. Just

feel off balance and much taller than my husband. Doesn't seem to

hurt the hips.

It is almost impossible to buy shoes without high heels these days.

I sure wish they made sexy 2 inch heels!

That's funny I haven't been able to wear high heels for years, being

40 I feel like I have been missing out, glad to know I can to soon.

I had my surgery Jan24. Still healing but can't wait!! Patti

Those kitten heels are so cute, but have you tried walking in them?

It is like a tiny spike in the middle of your heel and I can not walk

without tipping over!

Sure hope you have better luck than I have had!
