Guest guest
I use a sharp knife to scape the coconut meat out and put it into food processor. It does become a paste. I use this method to make coconut chutneys. regards Begum Ibrahim (Ms) k8teeth <stonesigns@...> wrote: Hi All, Im hoping that there are some that know of a machine that could be used at home that would mash coconut meat into a fine paste. Not desicated, this is to course. What I want to do is have the juice and the meat turned into a " coconut milk " so that I get all the benifits of the whole mature coconut, not just the oil. I know there are home machines that grate the meat out of the coconut, but I want it ground a lot finer than that. Any ideas appreciated. Guest guest
, The Green Star Juicer will extract milk from fresh coconut. This is the only juicer/machine that I know of that can juice coconut. I'm sure you can get the juicer from several places. One place I know of that sells it is www.simplycoconut.com. Machine that mashes coconut meat into a fine paste....wanted. > Hi All, > Im hoping that there are some that know of a machine that could be used > at home that would mash coconut meat into a fine paste. Not > desicated, this is to course. > > What I want to do is have the juice and the meat turned into a " coconut > milk " so that I get all the benifits of the whole mature coconut, not > just the oil. > > I know there are home machines that grate the meat out of the > coconut, but I want it ground a lot finer than that. > > Any ideas appreciated. > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Bruce, I will have a look at that site. What I am trying to do is to have the whole contents of the coconut like a smooth past...or like a substitute for dairy milk. I bought a container of coconut creme that was from singapore...boy it was delicious..like whipped cream...but you can bet it was heat treated. And it came out of the container like whipped cream. I dont want just one part of the coconut.I feel so differant from the oil,so I want the whole thing !
Guest guest
coconut cream fron Singapore....there are no cocnut plantations in Singapore...the original coconut must have come from Malaysia or Indonesia.. and they are passing it off as a Singapore product??? sigh k8teeth <stonesigns@...> wrote: Thanks Bruce, I will have a look at that site. Guest guest
It was a singaporian company that processed it.I kept the label because it so good.but I doubt I will buy it again because of the heat treatment.
Guest guest
A Vita Mix would do that job effortlessly. Guest guest
I have been looking at purchasing a Vita Mix, but have also seen something called the Total Blender by Blendtec. I understand that this used to be the K-Tec Champ Hp3 blender. Does anyone have any feedback on these two items (Vita Mix and the Total Blender) and know how they would do with making green smoothies with VCO or whole chunks of coconut, etc.? Guest guest
ANY high speed blender will damage the product and delicate components. Vita mix blades reach speeds of 240KPH !! From the research Ive done, these arent the things to use for things like coconut chunks or to preserve nutrients. I am still trying to find a low speed grinding device that wont destroy the good things in the food it processes, yet has a container like a blender.I dont think Im going to have any luck with this one. Guest guest
I have a Vita Mix and I disagree with your statement of preserving nutrients. How would mashing up a food affect the nutrients in it? You're right, the blades can reach a speed of 240 mph, if you want it to go that fast. That allows the fiber to break down so fine that it releases the nutrients more so than just your teeth or a regular blender can do. I guess it would be like chewing something for hours before swallowing - that wouldn't affect the nutrients. You're not adding or taking anything away, just mashing it up. Guest guest
Speed causes friction, friction causes heat, heat causes damage. Being on this forum proves that heat damages VCO,so with other organic materials. This is only two links of many that talks about heat damage from high speed blending.I dont agree with everything these people say,but they make valid points about juice extraction. http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:Z9ZdgSbLrnsJ:www.juicers- online.com.au/cabot.html+high+speed+damage+to+food & hl=en & gl=au & ct=clnk & cd=14 " Compared to using a good grade juice extractor (one that does not use high friction or ripping or tearing of the food, which causes enzyme destruction). We are all aware these days that cooking kills essential vitamins and enzymes in food. Are you aware that fast high-speed juice extractors have the same destroying effects, because high speed and friction = heat. Enzymes are sensitive to temperatures above approx 40`c and after 48`c they become sluggish. After 50`c the life of the enzyme is extinct, they are dead. Common masticating and centrifugal juicers and blenders operate at high speed, anywhere from 1,000 to 24,000 RPM. The high speeds heat up the juice and cause damage to some of the perishable nutrients in the vegetables. The Vitamixer is probably the worst juicer in this category. It is advertised as as juicer but it is really a high powered blender and can actually grind grains. The blades spin around at over 240 miles per hour. This high speed heats up the juice and damages the perishable nutrients. The Omega is a single gear machine that turns at a slow 80 RPM's to ensure that nothing is lost through heated elements in your juice. Guest guest
As far as I know, coconut oil is one oil that is not easily damaged by heat. Using the blender at medium speed for a shor time will not damage the coconut milk.. With regards to extracting coconut milk, we Asians have been doing it by hand for generations. This is done by scraping the meat of the coconut manually with the aid of a coconut scraper and then hand-squeezing the milk. warmly Begum Malaysia k8teeth <stonesigns@...> wrote: Speed causes friction, friction causes heat, heat causes damage.
