GCSE student Spiller, 16, who had no history of depression,

was given Roaccutane by a hospital to combat spots on his face,

chest and back.

Two weeks later his father found him hanging in a barn at the family

home in Stockland, Devon.

A World Health Organisation study has found Roaccutane, used by

13million people worldwide, implicated in about 700 reports of

psychiatric problems. Maker Roche has received reports of 84

suicides and suicide attempts.

Last year, the family of hanging victim , 25, of

Liverpool, called for a ban.

Coroner Earland said at the Honiton hearing: " Depression

can occur but studies have not shown a clear relationship. They

simply state if depression or mood change occurs treatment should be

discontinued. "

Dermatologists say the drug has helped thousands of acne sufferers.

Verdict: Suicide

If the FDA had a lick of sense that drug would've been banned years ago. And

Roche is infamous for making Quualudes, Valium, date rape drugs and other

wonderful additions to our culture. The whole company should stop production

and take all their profits and build drug treatment facilities that treat

without more drugs and very long cruises and get aways for all the rape

victims and surviving families they have " helped " so much.

I guess there are adverse psychological consequences for all kinds

of 'medications', not just the psyche drugs.

Re: Accutane. It's just my feeling but I think it does something to

the fatty acids in the brain.
