Guest guest Posted July 14, 2006 Report Share Posted July 14, 2006 " 200,000 Queensland Kids to Receive Free Jabs " Australian Associated Press (AAP) (07/12/06) Leggatt, Johanna The government of Queensland, Australia, will offer free vaccines for children in a bid to raise uptake rates. Officials hope to reach 200,000 children a year through the program, compared to the 108,000 administered to students during the last academic year. Under the initiative, eighth-grade students will receive vaccines against hepatitis B and chickenpox, while 10th-grade students will be targeted with a whooping cough vaccine. Said State Health Minister on, " With this funding we will be able to provide a coordinated statewide school program so that as many adolescents as possible are vaccinated against these diseases, which put an enormous drain on productivity.
