Hi , I am wondering if taking the probiotic and the garlic might be causing too much die off and making you feel bad. Do you have candida? You might try just taking the antibiotic and then use the probiotic and garlic after that. Just a thought. Anita Re: Please Help -Dear sarahI am so sorry that you developed a tissue infection. That really stinks! I was trying to look your antibiotic up and apparently you have a staph infection. It sounds like the drug you are taking is very specific for that type of infection and I would hesitate to just stop it as staph can get quite serious. You might try telling your doctor how much worse you are feeling and see what he has to say. I also read that you have to be careful with this drug for liver and kidney problems. How long do you have to be on it? I would make sure to take it exactly as directed so that it will be effective in the least amount of time. Also do what you can to help by eating nutritionously. It is possible that you are getting the fibro symptoms because of the die off of pathogens from the antibiotic you are taking. You are wise to use probiotics at the same time. Lots of them. Whatever you do, don't just stop the antibiotic without consulting your doctor. That could allow the staph to grow out of control. but do ask if there is something else you could switch to. Perhaps there is, though it did look like the drug of choice when I looked it up IF you have staph. It looks like olive leaf extract can kill staph too, but it can't be used with antibiotics as it can inactivate them. It would be wise to drink plenty of water too. I wish I could be of more help.HugsKathy-- In , "sarahspo" <sarahspoon@m...> wrote:> Hi Ladies> > I haven't posted for some time but for those of you who don't know I> was explanted about 6 weeks ago and developed a seroma which caused my> scar to come open, once the seroma had drained I felt a lot better my> joint pain had gone as had my fatigue and a lot of other symptoms but> unfourtunately I have now developed a tissue infection and have been> put on flucloxacillin, since taking them my fibromyalgia has come back> and I am feeling terrible I have contemplated stopping taking them but> I know its the only way I'll get over the infection. does anyone have> any advise that could help me get through the next couple of weeks> until I can stop the anti biotics. . .

I'm traveling and haven't seen all the messages. . . I

found amitryptiline the drug from Hell. . . Even my

hubby noticed I wasn't myself on it. I don't know what

symptoms you're having, but you may want to consider

cutting back, or trying something else . . . Neurontin

is another awful drug that I was given amitryptiline

to replace.

Neither helped. . . What helped was supplementing with

2 parts Calicum to 1 part Magnesium. . . You can

increase the dose until you get diareaha, then

gradually cut back until it reoccurs. My massage

therapist noticed a big change in my muscles when I

started the Calcium/Magnesium supplements. Garden of

Life's is the best I know of!

Dearest Rogene:

I agree 1000%, because this drug has taken away more friends than you can

imagine. Elavil is the trade name, and Amitriptyline is the generic name of

the drug. This drug is one of the worst drugs because it literally changes

your personality. Dow and the other manufacturers love this drug because it

stops the women from fighting back. Oh, how I hate to say this; however, I

have been waiting for the right moment...and Rogene has given me the right

moment.

I want you all to know that, a few years after receiving breast implants, a

doctor put me on Elavil, because he claimed that it would make me happy. I

went shopping and became lost, and I had forgotten where our home was. When

I finally did get home, I flushed the Elavil down the toilet. My doctor told

me that my toilet would never suffer from depression again. This is a true

story, and if I had my way this drug would be banned. The other big problem

is that some women combine this drug with other drugs or alcohol. Neurontin

was being prescribed in the nineties to shut women up, or a least I think

that was the reason. Can someone else explain why this drug became so

popular?

Please do not be angry with me for speaking out, because I know the pain

that the women are in....lovingly...Lea

I'm right there with you on this one Lea. I was put on Elavil a few

months after my son was born. After three days of it I remember that

I was sitting on the couch in my living room... had no plans for

that day or the next... and I had the most intense anxiety I've ever

felt in my life! I was trembling and nauseas and it felt like I was

about to appear before a judge that would decide whether I lived or

died. I cannot begin to decribe how bad I felt and for absolutely no

reason at all. I stopped taking it and called my doctor to tell him

what happened. He said that what I experienced could not possibly

have been from the elavil, that there was no way that Elavil could

cause anxiety. It was then that my faith in doctors and their

prescriptions started going downhill. I know for a fact that it was

the drug that did it to me! I hate presciptions of any kind and

avoid them like the plague! Inevitably they make me feel 10 times

worse.

By the way, those women who have been guilty of murdering their

children in bizarre events were all taking " mood elavators " like

Elavil and Prozac at the time. Food for thought.

I have to add my story as well. I took elavil for fms (supposed to

help deep four sleep) about20years ago. the first day I took it was

on Christmas EVE. I was so depressed that I felt suicidal. I

didn't even want to celebrate with my family. I knew it was the

drug because I never felt that way before. As soon as it wore off I

was normal again. I have reacted negatively to other

antidepressants as well. Many people, myself included, who have fms

are ultrasensitive to any medication.

Susie,

I am not sure what to tell you, other than this may be just the

beginning of your implants woes. Most of us have not had good

experiences with implants in regards to our health. The physical

properties of implants comes almost secondary to that.

I can only suggest that you wait it out and massage your breast

implant like your surgeon has probably suggested. Mine got hard

within a few months, and I was told to massage vigorously, and then

even to roll around on the floor on my stomach to get the breast

implants to stay soft. Needless to say, it didn't take much longer

for me to become deathly ill after those futile exercises.

I wish you the best with your implants. Hopefully this will just

become a small nuisance that you quickly get over. Please be careful

to watch your health in the months ahead.

Best wishes,

Patty

Kathie,

Welcome to ,

I've changed your settings from " No Mail " to " Daily

Digest " . . .

That will bring messages directly to you so you don't

have to access the group unless you want to. You can

respond to the group by using the address

" " . . .

I think there's a link on the Digest where you can

access the group page. But, I think that's where

you're just seeing a few messages. If you want to see

older messages, you will need to click on " Previous " .

.. . It's kinda of awkward because it goes back in

segments, rather than showing all the messages. It's

the way is set up . . . We can't do anything

about it!

If you have any more problems, let me know. I think

you should be able to search from the group page by

clicking on messages, then searching for your name,

segment by segment. Please let me know if this works

for you! If not, I'll do a search for you and forward

responses you received!

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

depending on where you are you might have luck finding a

environmental doctor with some knowledge on mold exposure. I would

have a culture done on sinus mucus. if it's mold in the apartment I

dont think any of the other apartments would be any better, hard to

say without being there. sinus aggervation can be from breathing

mold.

Very sorry you are having to deal with mold in your apartment. It is

very scarey at first when you get this illness and don't understand

what is happening. I have had this illness for 9 years and sorry to

say I am still very upset about it. I can tell you I was always very

healthy and my first signs of illness were sinus related and

fatigue. I also had a serious uticaria which is an allergic reaction

all over the body. I moved out of a moldy home and into a moldy

apartment. We discovered mold only three months after we moved

there. We moved in during a drought and when it rained the carpet

got wet and mold was on the walls. I tried to explain to management

about my illness and tried to be kind and patient. They moved me 5

months later into another apartment but in the same building. They

never cleaned the mold in the first apartment as they had promised.

It was a nightmare. I will tell you one thing, never sign anything

like a release. I did when we moved into the second apartment and

that basically released them of any liability. I was very naive and

just wanted a safe place. Unfortunately when your body is hurt

because of mold you most likely will have trouble with even the

slightest mold wherever you live. I now live with the chemical

sensitivity and I don't know what is worse the mold or the

chemicals. Unfortunately our products are made with dangerous

chemicals and I never knew it before I got so ill. Many that get ill

from mold get the reactive airways disease, asthma, or multiple

chemical sensitivity. There are many names but whatever, the lungs

hurt, muscles hurt, head hurts, where ever your weak spots are

located. Everything doesn't hurt always at the same time. Many

times I start out with a migrane and it doesn't go away and then I

start vomiting and running to the bathroom, and who knows how long it

will last 1 hour or 20 hours. Try to get away from the mold and start

living a more fragrance free/chemical free life. It can be done. I

mostly have to watch out for the people that are thoughtless and

continue to use these products in front of me. I would be happy to

answer any questions.

Thanks so much for the response -- I guess I am just not sure if mold is what is

happening or not and I don't know how to tell. The apartment guys came by today

and they looked and really did not think there was a mold problem here. The

walls are kind of like a sheetrock so there would not really be mold behind them

-- they are not wood or particle board or whatever. I don't know the right

terms but the walls are basically like cement.

I have a lot of health problems including Samters syndrome and I had cancer four

years ago (don't know if anyone else here has Samters or knows what it is).

The reason I thought this current thing might be mold is because I am allergic

to mushrooms and I feel like I have the same reaction I get when I have

mushrooms. The mushroom allergy has definitely gotten worse over time and

seemed to originate about 10 years ago when a doctor gave me a mushroom

supplement to take.

I think I wrote how when we moved out of our apartment two years ago in

Manhattan and then came back to visit the apartment there was all this mold

everywhere. So maybe that is what sensitized me to it.

Just not sure where to go from here, how to find out what is bothering me.

Lori,

If you are a cancer survivor, I think you need to listen to your body

and just simply plan to get out of there unless you succeed within a

preset time period (say, two weeks) of intensive investigation - in

eliminating the problem to your satisfaction.

First thing, sheetrock, gypsumboard, whatever you want to call it is

an ideal growth medium for stachybotrys and many other toxic molds.

The worst issues would be found somewhere inside the walls where

moisture levels were high at least some of the time.. (this doesn't

have to be a leak, it can often come from the fact that cold areas

condense moisture out of warmer air.. so if you have air conditioners,

mold can grow inside of them, it can also grow where the cold air

conditioned air condenses water out of warmer air that is somewhere

else.. In the winter, its common for mold to grow in attics and inside

walls that lack proper insulation and vapor barriers.. People living

produce lots of water.. its predictable..

Try to find where any mold might be growing, (pry up baseboards, look

inside vents and above light fixtures if you think there might be

condensation or leaks up or down there..)

If you find the mold, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at

http://indoorairresearch.net

does an excellent job on analysis of " tape lift " or bulk samples..

And they are very affordable - $25 - I think..

Are you taking alpha-lipoic acid and/or n-acetylcysteine?

Dear Jean- The ankle joint probably is filled with white blood cells and your Immune system works backward so your body thinks there is an infection in your ankle. As with any infection, the white blood cells rush to the area creating swelling redness and possibly fluid build up. You should talk to your RD about it of course but I would also recommend a few other things. Ice packs for one. 10 minutes on 10 off. Also I would give colloidal silver a try. They have it at GNC stores or you can buy it online. Amazon is my recommendation. I have Natural Path/Silver Wings Brand with a strength of 250 ppm. The hospital strength is between 250 and 1500 (parts per million). Most commercial strength is 10-30ppm which you can try for a start. Colloids are like an anti biotic and work for most infections. I can attest to the fact that it works. It only works for bacterial infections not viral ones. It binds to the enzymes in the bacteria of an infection and prevent it from worsening and gradually reduces it. Yours, Deborah

For heavens sake, stay out of that condo. Don't waste any money on tests and

remediations. You will need every penny you have, to establish yourself in

another home.

Even 5 minutes in that deathtrap, will cancel out ALL the detoxification that

your body has gone through, during weeks and months of avoidance. That 5 minutes

will make you just as sick as you were from previous months of mold exposure.

And the sickness will last for a very long time.

I suggest that you pay someone, like an electrician, to go into your condo, and

connect a " TIMER " to your house lights, and T.V. set and radio, so that every

day these things turn on and off, automatically, creating the illusion that you

are still living there. You can even buy an automatic " barking guard dog "

recording device, if you are that afraid of break-ins.

Your posting listed some " NEW " electronic equipment, that you originally brought

with you, then returned to the condo. One of the extra-added miseries of mold

exposure, is that many of us are turned into chemically hypersensitive

individuals (MCS),by our mold exposure. I react to the chemical off-gassing of

ALL new electronics, such as computers, printers, and T.V.'s. From your

description, I would guess that YOU DO TOO.

You would not re-enter your condo, if it was burning, to retrieve any valued

possession. Next time you get the urge to re-enter your condo, stand across the

street from it and " visualize " the flames coming out of all the windows. If you

still have the urge to cross that street, tell yourself that Joe [me] will be in

the middle of the street to smack some sense into you, if you try.

You have to say: " In spite of it all, the new year will be full of joy and

happiness. " And it WILL BE!

God Bless,

Joe

I'm sure the experts will jump in here, but the Industrial Hygienist is giving

you incorrect information. There are no established guidelines regarding the

" acceptable " levels of indoor mold. They should be taking samples from inside

and outside the house and then comparing the two results. If the indoor counts

are higher than the outdoor counts, that indicates a mold problem. Without

additional testing, it's difficult to say if you cross-contaminated the new

place by bringing some of your belongings. As I mentioned in my previous

message, one step is to thoroughly clean the new place including washing all

bedding and clothes in vinegar or borax. You could also try running a True-HEPA

air cleaner in the new place. There have been many cases of fraud in regard to

mold testers and mold remediators, so be careful. If you talk to someone who

says mold isn't harmful, hang up. One reliable source for experts is the IAQA

organization at www.iaqa.com.

Thanks for replying , the mold remediator remediated for mold but I was

still getting dizzy so I called the HOA and said I was still having some health

issues. They told me the crawl space had been remediated by a professional and

and was declared clean so if I wanted any further testing done I'd have to pay

for it myself which I did.

I spent $850 for a Industrial Hygienist and his test results showed the mold to

be within exceptional level but I had an unusually high count of yeast. Two days

after I received the news I moved out and moved into my sisters. I've talked to

God only knows how many industrial hygienists over the phone and they have all

said the chances of cross contamination are low and that I shouldn't worry but

when I see the majority of people in the house having some kind of allergic

reaction for no reason it causes me concern.

Any input you could give me would greatly be appreciated

Thank you

I think it would get into cardboard like it does paper. anything porus. some of

the toxins, chemicals, voc's,mvocs could absorb/get into the cardboard too.

mycotoxins are the size of nanoparticles, could be a number of things. theres

alot more going on in moldy houses beside just mold spores.

> >

to mold and it's by products, maybe your mom was sometime in the past without

realizeing it.

than what you were getting, they may be haveing some symptoms that they just

haven't connected to the mold problem yet, headackes, nasal stuffiness, just

felling not up to par. lots of possabilities there, hard to say.

Joe, I made the decision last week to not go back into the townhouse. When I

first started to get sick from the mold it usually took a couple of days for it

to work it's way out of my system and I started to feel better. I havent been

there for a week and about the only time I get any relief is when Im at the gym

but the minute I get into my truck I become symptomatic again which makes me

think my truck has been cross contaminated (if thats possible).

another home.

You dont need the spores to transfer the toxin, and a lot of spores are very

sticky

>

> Nothing was wet or even had the slightest musty smell. The tv was put in into

the back of the truck and transported 5 miles before it reached my sisters. Im

hoping that what ever mold spores were on the box were blown off.

I dont think anyone is saying that cross contamination isnt possable.

I know myself it is, but you have to put a perspective on it. no one can say for

a fact that dave cross contaminated his sisters house, we aren't there, we dont

know just how bad his house is contaminated,

and part of the brain effects can cause you to be somewhat over reactive,

depressed, and just not thinking to great during that time

when everything on top of being very ill just hits you like a ton of bricks.

as far as daves situation, I hope no one here convienced him that he cross

contaminated his sisters house cause theres no way we could really know that.

and I hope he's not out there with his illness and what might be some pretty

disperate thoughts based on what someone here said. sometimes, we ourselfs have

to stop and think back to those horrable days and try to remember what we felt

like and consider very carefully that some people during that terable time can

be anywhere from mildly depressed to thinging about harming theirselfs

because they cant deal with the situation and what they may precieve might not

be as bad as what they are precieveing it to be.

it is to bad that at our worst time of need, help, and expertize in this matter,

we are usually left completely on our own.

advice given by anybody during this time needs to be considered very carefully

and I know theres some that are here or was here that go a little overboad with

this cross contamination issue.

I just hope thats not why Dave is so convienced that he has contaminated his

sisters house and to the extent that all hope is lost and I hope he doesn't do

something stupied to hurt himself over it. damn, I know just how bad/depressed

this can make someone and how moods can be pretty uncontrolable during this

time.

you cant say, this happened to me so it had to of happened to you too.

> >

> > Dr. Thrasher: Its not called " harping " its called trying to help. Believe me

I know what I am talking about. Sure old cars have mold, these were not old cars

and they did not bother me until I used them for a few weeks and contaminated

them. If you LIVE this condition, you stop questioning yourself, the really hard

part is that people never stop questioning us. D

I cross contaminated my car as well when moving from a moldy house. My car

wasn't old either. I filed an insurance claim and guy came to look at the car

and said he could smell the mold. Finally after hours of researching...ammonia

diluted in water....sprayed in all air vents and inside of car totally wiped

down...seemed to help. Before the ammonia I thought I was going to lose my car

because to drive it made me completely sick. Would someone tell Dave to use

ammonia diluted with water in spray bottle. Dryclean all clothes then wash

clothes with 1 cup of ammonia plus reg. detergent. (any wool clothes can not be

saved) Physically clean all personal items which can be saved (like plastics,

glass, etc) with ammonia water. If I had known what I know now I would have just

walked away from the property leaving behind all personal belongings. Because

the time, trouble and money spent to save " what little " I did... could have just

purchased new items. All paper

products gone....forget them. Lost 256 books, sofa, chair, wooded entertainment

center, two mattresses, heaters, the list goes on and on, not to mention the

loss of health. But....the ammonia....played powerful role in helping me

recover. I had skin lesions and Dr. Croft recommended to add one cup of ammonia

to my bath water. It helped me along with anti fungals. Which can be purchased

on-line (with out prescription) if doctors won't help you or call you crazy. Be

sure to research for drug interactions with any drugs you're currently on before

taking anti fungals. I spent weeks researching anti fungals and making sure the

drugs I am currently taking would not interact or cause problems for me if I

take a certain anti fungal.  I'm not giving medical advice but I am sick of

doctors not knowing or not telling people how to help themselves. Then you

actually see advise to use bleach to clean up mold....which is one of the worse

things to use. I was on my

own with this. But this site helped me so much. I am slowing getting my life

back and I am in a lawsuit with landlord. We must press forward with lawsuits

until the truth is told, no matter if we win or not. It is the way to start

getting attention to this matter. I will never forget and nor will my son who

now has MS. I will bang on tables, I will file lawsuits, I will write letters, I

will beat on doors....and I will never hand my life or my sons life over to some

myco toxin producing fungi ....so help me God. I can't tell you the days I

wanted to commit suicide during this horrific experience but for Dave and anyone

else out there going through this remember that....you are a survivor, think for

yourself, research research research, fight, clean, detox, clean some more,

there is a reason for this happening to you. You are chosen because you can be

trusted to help others, so never give up, never give in and NEVER FORGET.

> Brava, Diane, I was going to respond myself, but you have done a wonderful

job. I cross contaminated my first car when I moved some stuff from the moldy

house into storage, my second molding, my body crass contaminated so many cars,

my friends lined them up for me to use, trading almost daily till I got the

situation under control. this past summer the dogs jumped in and cross

contaminated my jeep-now I bought a pick up so everything that might be bad can

ride in the back, and I keep the cab as a " Iso-chamber "

The most depressing thing is going to all the trouble of moving, and cross

contaminating things and then having to move again. Information has to be given

to people or they may never get it right. Without the internet and

information-many of use may have done ourselves in-imagine a world isolated with

this problem. The one thing thing that really upsets me is that no one explained

to me the hypersensitivity thing-and the quicker sicker. If i had understood

that, I might have done things better. You need all the facts to deal with this

illness.

New cars also have mold. If you have run the heater and/or the air conditioner

you have mold as well as bacteria growth in the ventilation system. Although

you maybe responding to molds you must remember that household furnishing as

well as computers outgas chemicals to which you maybe responding. Individuals

who have become ill from mold/bacterial exposure do develop a cross sensitivity

to a variety of airborne chemicals. I suggest that you locate and read the peer

reviewed literature on this subject. It can be found via a google search. The

key authors are Dr. Nabuo Hamada and Dr. G. Ahearn. There is a Chapter

in Straus book " Sick Building Syndrome " on this subject. Yes you can cross

contaminate, but you must also realize that a car may have been contaminated

before you became ill.
