Guest guest
I don't know about humira, however, I have gained 20 pounds with my prednisone, enbrel, tramadol, elavil and lodeine. the slip that comes with the RX from the pharmacy shows a side effect of " Increased Appetite " on three of the above. Guest guest
I have started gaining weight again since being on humira. I have been on it weekly for about 2 months now and I've gained about 8 lbs. I used to be on prednisone and gained 60lbs and had recently lost 20 of it. Now it's coming back. Good luck with the new therapy, Gloria in Ok. > > > I was on Enbrel for 2.5 years and it stopped working for me. Guest guest
Dear Miriam- I think Remicade will benefit you. Be sure to drink lots of gatorade and water since it tends to dry you out. You might also think about taking cyclosporine instead of MTX to help you over time. I am still on Remicade. It still works though not as well as it has. I have been on it since 2000 so AMEN. Guest guest
Prednisone can cause weight gain. You said you had other med changes so I would think an change in pred dose or addition of pred to meds can cause weight gain. Toni
Guest guest
The only medication that I have heard a lot about as causing weight gain is Prednisone. However, if our medications are not working well we usually do a lot less exercise and that will cause weight gain, as well as comfort eating to take our minds off our pains. With RA it requires a lot of discipline to avoid weight gain. God bless. Guest guest
I can only say I have not gained weight on Humira, and it has helped me greatly. Hope Remicade works for you. > > I was on Enbrel for 2.5 years and it stopped working for me. Then I > was on Abatacept/Orencia and it worked at first but then it stopped > working for me. Guest guest
Thank you all for your feedback on Humira, weight gain and other meds that could also be causing it. I haven't switched to Remicaid yet but am familiar with the large weight gain associated with Prednisone. I just get so disgusted as I see my weight go up so rapidly, take forever to come off ( and then only some comes off), and then rapidly gain more. Thanks for your concerns and input, Miriam
