Guest guest
, I have started having headaches again and shoulder pain. The doctor that treated me said I had signs of failed disc at Level c5. But I also have spondylosis and stenosis in that area along with thinning of my spinal cord. They have already said that I may end up in a wheel chair due to all the trauma my neck has been through because of car accidents. I also am having problems with my hands again they are clumsy and hurt alot of times. they say this is caused because my fusion is failing. Guest guest
Dear Babs, I am so sorry to read about all your problems and pain. I have a couple of things that you have, so I can understand your pain, but I am still at a stage where I can just use my pain meds, and my lumbar fusion helped a little. I cannot imagine being told I may end up in a wheelchair, I am so sorry. I hope you have lots of people who love and support you and can be there for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
-Hi Babs sorry to hear you are having problems with your neck, shoulders and hands. Was that area C5 fused before?? What you mentioned makes me wonder if my neck problems didn't start a long time ago when I started having trouble with my hands. Then they just wrote it off as carpal tunnel but they sure are weaker than they used to be. I always am dropping things or loosing my grip ( what little I have) and after my neck surgery the dr told me that he thought my neck problems were the cause of it. But its never gotten any better so I know what you mean its frustrating. Does anything help your hands when they hurt?? I found heat helps mine and I found these little heat mitts that you can warm up in the micro and put on when they hurt. In the winter I usually hurt more especially if I let my hands get cold outside. The Pt told me long ago too that I should keep exercising my hands to keep them as strong as possible. Not sure if any of this will help you or not. Will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Sharon, your hand issue is most likely caused by the problems in your neck, My problems began when my c5 disc messed up due to wreck. My hands are very weak and I always like you drop things. When the pain is bad I have to put on my stents and wear them at night till the pain eases back up. I also stretch out my fingers alot to help ease the pain. My doctors told me it was due to the neck problems damaging the nerves in that area.
