Guest guest
& Group, Just wondering with your surg., If they went in from the front of the neck? My operation was done from the front of the neck-in order to get to the cervical disc. I still have a problem with swallowing. They also moved my voice box and I have some problems with projecting my voice. I am only back to work for about 4.5 hours a day. I am so run down, I can hardly make it four hours at a desk job. I try and stay positive-but this truly SUCKS! I was in a car accident a little over a year ago and have been in pain ever since. I switched insurance providers and I am now trying to find a counselor that is in my network. I need to someone to talk to about this pain. I feel like I'm really going to loose it. My doctor gave me a different pain med. at my follow up appointment. I wonder if I should be seeing a pain management doctor instead of my neo-doc for my pain. I wish I could start a local " support group " for people living with chronic pain. I live one hour north of Chicago and one hour south of Milwaukee,WI.. Anybody else out there from my area that might want to form a group? I know that might sound strange, but I'm just so sick of living with this pain. The plate that was put in with screw seems to be making my neck very tender in that area-wonder why right! I am concerned because the tenderness seems so much worse that it was even two weeks ago. All my neo-doc has to say about everything is-oh, that's normal. I was also wondering if anyone might have any info on nerve damage after having neck surgery? Any ideas or thoughts from anyone would be great! I am so frustrated I could scream!!! From, Wsuz grasshopperx_10 <woody10@...> wrote: Wsuz. ME too!!!! Guest guest
Hi, Wanda, I had a c5-c6c7 fusion & Metal plate put in just like you. My operation was done in the front of my neck. I had my surgery done about seven months now and I still have alot of pain. First the Dr said you have some pain and it is normal. He said this kind of surgery use to take six months to a years. My pain got so worst that it travel from my neck, arms, and low back and to the back of my leg. I went back to see my surgeon and he order a MRI and CT scan and it show that I have a bulgin disk and a pinch nerve on my disk which is c3 c4 and he want to perform another surgery. I think to myself if he didn't fix the my problem before that what made him think that if he perform on c3 c4 is giong to be better. I had so many sugery in past. for exemple i had donated a kidney and had a historectomy done and never experiend this kind of pain in my life and I never complained. My neck start hurting me right after the car accident happened to me I was in the automobile car accident Re: Re: Two Disc Removed in Neck, Fusion & Metal plate & Group, Just wondering with your surg., If they went in from the front of the neck? Guest guest
Hi, Wanda,I was in an automobile accident and started develoupe this pain for two years, before they know what is wrong with me. I had a c5-c6c7 fusion & Metal plate put in just like you. I had so many sugery in past. for exemple i had donated a kidney and had a historectomy done and never experiend this kind of pain in my life and I never complained. As for right now I 'm seing a Neurosurgeon and he is sending me to see a pain management. I have appt with them two weeks from now and I'm very excited. Last week I went to see another Ortho Dr to see what he think about my case. He said I made the right choice not having another surgery. The way he look at my MRI and Ct scan and he does not think that second surgery going to help my problem. So, he is sending me to two kind of test the first one is call myelogram and the second one is Somatosensur I think is almost like a EKG electrogram I don't know for sure I let you all know after I have the test done and what the result is. I know how you all feel about your pain and you are not alone. First I thought what is giong on with me and why I'm having this pain and when I complaint to my Dr. he said stop whinning. I told him that I'm the patient and I have the right to tell him how I felt. I asked the Dr. did you have this kind of surgery on yourself and he said I'm being smart with him.I'm the kind of person that never c/o of pain until it gets to level 8 or 10.Before all this happended to me I used to run six to seven mile a day, vacation and go to scuba diving and rock climming. I'm also a kidney donor. To all of you please remember is your body and don't let anyone think that over react to your pain. No one enjoyed pain trust me. Keep giong to Dr and don't give up until you find something that work and bring down your pain level to a 4 or 5 is better than a 8 or 10. thank to all your e-mail From: Wanda <wsuz06@...> neck pain Sent: Friday, January 5, 2007 3:40:35 PM Subject: Re: Re: Two Disc Removed in Neck, Fusion & Metal plate Re: Re: Two Disc Removed in Neck, Fusion & Metal plate & Group, Just wondering with your surg., If they went in from the front of the neck? I haven't found one, so I think I will be starting one. He told me he couldn't give me names but he knows of 8 patients alone in his practice that he sees for depression etc, caused by or increased by Chronic pain. I'm in Reading ,PA . Yes they did go in through the front for me, and my pain increased, not decreased and it is now 6 years later for me. You are not alone.
