HELLO ALL.... IM NEW BUT WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD EXPERIENCES WITH BRACING? I JUST GOT FITTED WITH A NEW BACK BRACE YESTERDAY AND I'M WONDERING HOW IT IS TO GET ALONG WITH ONE... WILL I GET USED TO IT. DO I NEED TO BUY CLOTHES THAT WILL FIT OVER IT? DOES IT WORK PRETTY WELL FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT. I HAVE BULGING AND DEGENERATIVE DISKS WITH STENOSIS. ANY LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE SMALL STUFF.

I've had four month experience with a hard brace, more like a turtle shell. However, mine was worn for post-op for L5/S1 fusion. If you have more info on what type of brace you have, I can relate my experience to you. I don't want to tell you a bunch of things that don't relate to your situation. I do wish you best of luck with your back.

Thanks everyone for the info on the back brace. I appreciate the

help. You guys were wondering what kind it was that i got so you can

maybe give me some more information. It's called from the best of my

knowledge, a soft LSO. It's made from two shells of plastic which are

held together by velcro. And covered in a soft material. It's very

restrictive as it goes from my hips to just below shoulders in the

back. The worst thing about it is finding clothes that fit over it. I

don't like wearing it on the outside of the clothes because to be

honest Im a little self conscious about it. It seems to make my back

feel much better which is good. But was wondering what kind of

experience you guys had with it or if there is anyone else out there

who is trying bracing as a treatment option. Thanks a million.

Elaney got her back brace today! It is for scoliosis. It looks so

uncomfortable! I really hope it does not cause her to much discomfort.

It is only at night and then she can be active and move alot during the

day. I think that will be best for her considering her JRA. I know I

already asked you all about this before but if anyone else has gone

thru this w/ someone w/ JRA I would love to hear from you. The last

time I asked was during my sister's coma and I may have accidently

deleted them. (Oops! I think I may have endured some brain damage from

my sister's coma!!!) As for my sis she is doing great!--- &

flexible lumbar back braces work good for me.

Another idea is get a customized corset.

Custom Corsettes of California have nice mail order ones that don't

make you look like R2D2 from star wars or like you're wearing a costume

to go as a hard boiled egg.

Hi,

I was looking online and I saw some braces but I am not sure what is

better, maybe you can check them and see.

1. This one I heard is doing injuries after a while of wearing :

http://www.pushstore.com/502_240101/Push_Med_Back_Brace.html

2. This one I am thinking may not be so bad, but I didn't find any

review about it.

http://www.supportsusa.com/bort/back/vario_back_support.htm

3. And I also found this site where are lots of braces, so I looked

more at : http://www.braceshop.com/ProductCart/pc/Mueller-Back-Brace-

20p1391.htm and http://www.braceshop.com/ProductCart/pc/Mc-

Universal-Back-Support-20p140.htm

I also looked at your links, I dont't think wearing a corset is

giving me too much mobility. I need something lighter to be able to

remove it alone but also to keep my spine straighter.

Thank you.

The problem I've always had with back braces and corsets and such, is

that I breathe predominately with my abdomen. I'm afraid if I had

something tight around my stomach I'd have a lot of trouble

breathing. Does anyone else have this problem?

Brett's back brace always had a stomach cut-out so he could still breathe with

his belly while providing support. I will see if I can find an old picture, he

hasn't worn one in a few years.
