A diagnosis

Hi all! I posted here several months ago about my 2 year old, .

She had a swollen toe and we had gone through several possible

problems before having an MRI, which led to a possible diagnosis of

JRA. It took us almost 3 months to get in to see a pediatric

rheumatologist (partly because of the referring doc's slowness in

sending over records) but we finally had our appointment today. And

the rhuemy said it is JRA.

Thankfully, in part due to this group, I wasn't blindsided. The stuff

she told me was familiar and nothing new. She diagnosed it as

pauciarticular. It is hard to believe, though, that my active toddler

that just learned to jump and walks on her tip-toes and is so darn

active has JRA! I guess I always figured she would have more issues,

more stiffness, more pain. But, that darn swollen toe just wouldn't

get better!

So, we will be starting her on naproxene as soon as the pharmacy can

get it in. She will take it twice daily. I do have a few questions to

ask about it. I will ask the pharmacist, but perhaps you all can

enlighten me. With the naproxene, will she still get fevers with

illness? And if she does get a fever, or perhaps has pain from cutting

the molars we are still waiting for, will we be able to give her

Tylenol or Advil as well? I know those are silly questions, but that

is what is on my mind!

Anyway, just wanted to share our current situation. I am always

reading and learning from all of you. I just don't have much to post

right now! Thanks for this wonderful group!

Sheryl
