Guest guest
Hey Bee! Just dropped in with a question. it's been about 18 months since me and Marina stopped your eating program. We do eat pretty healthy, still, though. I was stupid and started smoking cigarettes back in August, and quit a week ago. I also drank beer during the summer, but have quit that too now. We have continued with most of the vitamins you recommend... but we haven't done cod liver oil in about a year (I just ordered 2 bottles today though!)... nor have we been taking much coconut oil. (I ordered a gallon from Mountain Rose last week). We stopped doing the electrolyte drink too, but I've started that again as of 2 days ago. I noticed I was feeling strange about a month ago, and took my blood pressure reading... and it was like 140/95!! While I was on your diet, and for most of the time since, my blood pressure was extremely good... averaging 115/70. Since cutting out the bad stuff (alcohol/cigs), my 30-reading average is 122/85... pre-hypertension levels. What's wierd is that it seems higher during the night (130/90), which tells me my sympathetic nervous system is out of whack. Your program teaches us to know our bodies pretty well, so I have a few theories. Tell me what you think... A friend told us several months ago that Grapeseed Oil was extremely healthy to cook with, so I've gone through about 3 liters of the stuff. Now, after doing a little reading, I believe the grapeseed oil might have caused my vessels to constrict, because the Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio is not like it's supposed to be. My body is deluged with Omega 6's, and that's just as bad as if I were eating unhealthy oils all thte time. I have cut out the grapeseed oil now, and trust that my body will come back into balance when I start cooking with pork lard and VCO. Question.... we eat a lot of EVO (not heated) with our salad dressings... could this contribute to Omega6 overload too? Also, I had an organic garden this summer... which was very hot. I did a lot of working and sweating... and beer-drinking... so I may have sweated/peed out a lot of the minerals my body should be storing, and I need to re-build the proper mineral levels. One more thing.... and we haven't told anyone else yet... Marina's PREGNANT with our first! So I'm looking at ways to ensure she has a great pregnancy. As I mentioned in my post to Debbie, Marina's immune system seems very strong... she's never sick. She's about one month along with the pregnancy, and there is no morning sickness or anything. Thanks for being here and for answering questions!!! Doug
