Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am new to the group plus I have been away for a few weeks and haven't posted for a while so I thought I would say "Hello". I had over 1000 emails when I returned and really couldn't get through it all. I just wanted to add, I went to the AJAO conference in Orlando a few years back and one thing that stuck with me was a class on medication. The doctor said when you taper from methotrexate it could be a double edge sword. Once you go off completely there is the possibility of the flares coming back (which we all know) but the pitfall is the methotrexate may not work the same as it did before tapering off. She was saying a low dose of methotrexate for a long time like a year may be an OK thing especially if it controls flares and the side effects are at a minimum. It is just something that stuck with me, I have not experienced it personally, and it doesn't happen that way to everyone but it maybe why there is a difference in the way the doctors choose to taper.
