Hi Joanne, my wife basically had the same thing happen to her. She driving to

her back doctor and she thought something was wrong with the car. She made a

right turn out of a gas station onto a road and continued to turn right hit a

lamp pole and knocked it over. Luckly not towards her or anyone else. She said

she was more upset that the car could not keep going. The police came out of

course, she lucid enough to give him her info etc, without being asked if she

had been drink or taking any drugs and no test were taken. She even called me to

let me know. I came out to get her, and all she got was a ticket for not having

her glasses on. So I said lets take the car to the repair shop, she drove across

5 lanes of road, up and over the crub before she got it straight, Luckly the

repair shop was close. Got her out of the car and notice something was wrong and

took her to the emergency room. They did all the test for a stroke and it turn

out to be

Encephalophy. Well she was suppose to be taking Lactulose but had stopped, as

she knew it was suppose to help her have a bowl movement, but that is it. Well

while she was in the hospital the doctors and her PA finally told her what it

does. So she was to blame but the doctors did not fully explain why she had to

take it.

Now we both know what to look for, if it happens again. Oh I did pull her

driving privilages until the doctor and both of us thought she would be ok to

drive.

Thanks for the good information
