Hi Friends

Got a hit into this forum when I was googling. Thanks for the moderator to let

me

added in.

Im from India 35 yrs of age. I was asked to take a blood test (CBC & LFT) and

Sonograpy by my doctor whom I visited to check for my kidney stone problem.

I have given my Case Details below.

First set of Results for Sonograpy, LFT, CBC on May-08

---------------------------------------------------------

Liver - Measures 16.5 cmWas Mildly Enlared in Size with diffusely hyperechoic

         parenchyma. No solid lesion. No Intrahepatic biliary dilation. Portal

Vein is normal

         Porta  Hepatitis is Normal.Hepatic Veins are Normal.

         Intrahepatic portion of IVC is normal

Gall Bladder -  Wall thickness Normal. Luminal echoes are normal. No calculi

C.B.D          -  Not dilated

Pancreas     - Normal size and parenchymal texture

spleen         - Mearsures 12.9 cm MILDLY enlarged in size. No focal lesions

LFT

SGPT/ALT  --> 127; which was higher

SGOT/AST -->  140 which was higher

ALP --> 116

I was asked to take the following tablets for 2 months and asked to take the

AST/ALT tests alone after that

URSOCOL SR 900 mg cap  a day; SILBOSTIN  360 mg cap  a day; RICONIA LP tab  - 1

Second set of results on AST/ALT on Oct-08

---------------------------------------------------------------

SGPT/ALT  -->> 75 Ref Range was 10 - 50

SGOT/AST -->> 36  Ref Range was 5 - 37

After this results doctor suggested me the following tables for 6 weeks and take

up the

CBC & LFT Tests again

SILBOSTIN-120 mg 3 times a day

VELOZ 20 mg once in a day

Third set of results on CBC & LFT on Feb-09

-------------------------------------------

LFT

SGPT/ALT  --> 55.60; Got Reduced from the 2nd test

SGOT/AST -->  46.50; Got INCREASED FROM THE 2ND test

Serum Albumin --> 5.21 Range [ 3.2 - 5.0 ] Got Higher

ALP --> 113.3

GGT --> 62.9 [ 0 - 50 ]

Since AST/ALT was fluctuating in the past 3 tests, Doctor suggested to take the

following

tests on Mar-09

a) Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) .  Reslt  --> 0.009 and it was

NEGATIVE

B) Hepatitis C Virus Antibody (HCV) .     Result --> 0.036 and it was

NEGATIVE

c) Serum CERULOPLASMIN (Nephelometry).         Result --> 0..31

d) ANA - IF (Antibody Nuclear Antibodies) Immunofluorescence)  and results

                ANA BY IF                 POSITIVE

                ANA IF TITRE              1:80

                Pattern of Staining       Nucleolar

I was lucky to get NEGATIVE  for HCV & HBsAg, But ANA was positive with a titter

value of 1:80, after which doctor asked to go for Liver Biopsy, reasons stated

was

a) LFT values are abnormal

B) ANA is positive

c) Need to be done to understand the seriousness of damage that has happened to

the liver, since he was suspecting it to the Autoimmune hepatitis and asked me

to take table UDILIV 300 3 times a day till Liver Biopsy was done.

These statements from Doctor raised a kind of alarm that I have to go in my

life. Finally I did Liver Biopsy and results are

===============

Section shows linear cores of liver tissue showing relatively preserved

architecture. there are small foci of lymphocytic infiltrate within the

parenchyma leading to focal necrosis of hepatocytes with collapse of reticulin

network as highlighted by teticulin stain. centrilobular fibrosis also seen.

macro and microvesicular fatty change within hepatocytes are noted. the portal

tract show mild to moderate infiltrate by lymphocytes and occcasional

eosinophils extending partly within hepatic paranchyma (inflammatory grade 2).

plasma cells are not seen. pas and pas-d stains highlights above findings

reticulin stain shows fibrosis of stage 2

Impression

needle biopsy liver showing features of steatohepatitis with focal

hepatocellular necrosis

(inflammatory grade 2) and periportal fibrosis (stage 2)

===============

After the results Doctor was kind of ok and is telling that the damage to the

liver is not that bad as he antipicated, but he warned me we have to take

aggressive approach to get this stopped further. And he has asked me to continue

with udiliv 300mg 3 times/day and evion omega 400 mg a day for two months and do

LFT test again. Alongside he also asked me to do the following

a) Have good diet food

B) Avoid eatng Junk foods :)

c) Do some work outs 30-45 mins a day.

Can some friends here explain me where I stand and how serious is my illness? Is

my problem in a stage where it can be cured and recovered and takng this

medication is just a process to extend my day count,before I reach stage 4 i.e.

cirrhosis.

Since this process of medicines and LFT's was happening for almost a year I got

mentally prepared for any uneventualities thats going to happen in my life.

I was lucky to be connected with all you friends. Its always nice to be

connected with people who share similar concerns

Again Very nice to meet you friends from all part of the globe. Its always nice

to meet people from different regions and understand their culture :)

Im sorry for writig a very big mail
