Guest guest
<>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Just because something isn't seen doesn't mean it's not there<> From: false <kajern55@...> Subject: ARMOUR THYROID.........PLUS SYNTHROID? GOOD OR NOT? matchermaam@... Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2010, 9:11 PM RONI, I READ YOUR POST AND ADMIT THAT I AM VERY IGNORANT OF ALL THE SYMBOLS ABOUT HYPOTHYROIDISM. However, I have been on synthroid 112 mcg (2) per day for years. After coming to this site and hearing about the tests that should be done, I took the list to my main doctor and asked him if he would have those run. He agreed. Now, I just have to get my silly butt in AFTER A 12 HOUR FAST (which is the problem) He also put me on Armour thyroid meds , one HALF GRAIN (30mg) one per day. Also, he ordered DAW synthroid (i have been taking the generic), 200 mcg or 0.2 mg per day. How does this sound compared to what I was taking before? I am doing much better about taking my meds FIRST THING WHEN I WAKE UP, BEFORE I EAT AND TAKE ONLY THE THYROID MEDS AT THAT TIME. Then I wait a couple hours or more to take the other meds including my blood pressure meds, etc. THEN I EAT!! When I do it this way, I notice that i am not feeling ragingly hungry all the time. I am " morbidly obese " they say at 255 and recently lost another 20 pounds in a couple months of being on this adjusted time schedule. Disabled since 86, now 64 years old, I only do exercises in a pool, and look older than my age within the last 5 years (since my dear son, Rob, died). Back in 04, I was still on the generic synthroid, son, Rob, planted me a simple garden, and i ate veggies a lot every day (plus whole grains and some meat too), and lost 70 pounds without trying. I had gotten up to 285 and went down to 215. My hair used to fall out at the sink in huge amounts. Now, I am no longer losing hair but it still seems thinner than it was. It does break off easily though, and bunches up like a bird's nest in back, so it has had to be cut a lot. Dry skin not too bad now. My temperature is still between 93 and 97. I am still " feeling " very hot, like my head is exploding. This happens after very little activity. To the touch, i have a cold sweat. On one occasion in a store, I passed out. A couple days ago, it happened in a grocery, and i sat down quickly. Had worker get my son, , who was in the car, a wheelchair, and i took a nitro. Process of elimination, I have been seeing a cardiologist and had heart cath done once a year. Only problem he found is a leaky mitral valve which is not bad enough for surgery. He gave me nitro for when i have chest pains/tightness. Has said nothing about symptoms relating to my heart. Ambulance trip to hospital once when i woke up, couldnt talk or move. bp was 175/100something. Was in hospital for several days where they gave me 1mg klonepin 3 times a day plus my other meds and started me on lisinopril for high blood pressure. Just a note that my " normal " bp has always been 90/60 as is my daughter's, sisters, and mom's. Now I have to take the bp med every day to keep it " normal " . Doc says high bp may be a reaction to anti depressant effexor that i am on. Also have copd (chronic broncitis) which i have several inhalers for. Degenerative joint disease. Take neurontin, have flexeril but seldom take that. Also take feldene which is an anti inflamatory which helps a lot with the back pain. No, i havent gotten to the lab yet to have the blood taken for all the thyroid tests you guys mentioned. Hope this email shows up on the site so anyone else with suggestions or relates to me can see it. thanks for being there Dedicated to the Nazarene
