White patches on your skin causing you embarrassment? Here are six simple home ingredients, suggested by Dr Tapas Majumdar, Kalyani Seva Kendra, Kolkata, which can help you out.

Coconut Oil:

This soothing oil fights fungi, bacteria and inflammation, as well as induces melanin formation. Apply it two to three times a day for at least two weeks and look for improvement.

Ginger:

This heightens blood circulation, which can help in boosting melanin secretion. Put fresh ginger on affected area and let it dry. It can be also drunk as juice.

Babchi Seeds:

The active ingredients in these seeds promote production of new pigment. Use it as an oil on the skin or powder the seeds and drink it with ginger juice or milk.

Copper:

Copper aids in the production of melanin. Store drinking water in copper vessels and let it sit overnight at room temperature. In the morning, drink the water on an empty stomach. Do this daily to help spur melanin production.

Red Clay:

Red clay is high in copper content. To use this, blend the red clay with ginger juice and put it on the affected area, leaving it until it dries. Use this daily until you see good results.

Ginkgo Biloba:

This popular herb is an antioxidant and helps boost your immune system. It can help reduce the problem of vitiligo by boosting formation of new pigment.
