Coconut oil is very rich in phenolic compounds, which some people have

a problem detoxifying. That's the only reason I'm aware of that some

people might do poorly with quality coconut oil, in which case they'd

also do poorly with a great variety of other very good foods.

There is also a wide range of quality for coconut oils: some brands

made from copra are quite horrid, whereas unheated virgin coconut oil

is of very high quality, and then there are many in between.

For someone who doesn't have an intolerance to phenolic compounds

using *quality* virgin coconut oil, it can be very beneficial, and

should be considered, in my opinion, an essential part of a candida

protocol unless the person has a negative reaction to it, which as you

demonstrate can happen.

True. Worse, whereas coconut oil is mostly high in anti-aging

antioxidant polyphenols, a large portion of tea's phenols is

salicylates. I think if antioxidant polyphenols are a problem, it is

probably just due to overloading of the enzymes and indirect effects,

whereas I think salicylates are very toxic if they build up. I

personally am nearly certain that I react horribly to even moderate

doses of salicylates. Pepto Bismol gives me very loose stools and a

slamming headache, I get itchiness and some other problems from nuts,

more from high-salicylate nuts (almonds are the worst) and less for

low-salicylate nuts, and anything with moderate or high amounts of

salicylates seems to make my eczema worse.
