Hi, Everyone my brother is 25 years old and he has Keratoconus. Keratoconus is the distortion of the cornea (the cornea is cone shaped). Studies shows that Keratoconus is genetics and it could also occur from hard contact lenses, but he was wearing soft contact lenses at the time it occured. I would like to know is there anything that he can do about Keratoconus besides surgery is there any alternative? Thanx in advance.

Does green tea cause thirst? I'm interested because I often wake in the

middle of the night thirsty and was wondering if drinking green tea during

most of the morning could be causing this problem. ???

Randee

Well, that's interesting!,, that happens to me too Randee,, and I am rarely thirsty during the day except after aerobic exercise.. but at night (after dinner) water goes down really easily... I sip green tea most mornings ...

Bev,

Thanx for the words of encouragement. It is so easy to feel so

isolated regarding this condition. Let me know how you fare after the

surgery.

Ciao,

Penny

I like your attitude!! A Butt Load of questions...I hope your Dr. has

a butt load of answers. It seems like the questions always outweigh

the answers.

So, in your experience, is it a good idea to have the dilatations?

Are they worth the pain? Do you get relief long enough to make it a

viable option?

And what about surgery...I just had my 4th back surgery in November,

the thought of another surgery just doesn't set well with me at all.

Anyway, thank you for responding. I look forward to getting to know

my fellow Achalasiacs.

Ciao,

Penny

Hi all!

Re: Early walkers/not crawling - I was a little late walking from what I've

heard Mom say. Not sure about crawling though. Will ask when she drops dd

off later.

Re: Itching- PLEASE use extreme caution or avoid electric heating pads

altogether. I've suffered second degree burns more than once due to loss of

sensation near the scar on my hip, & twice they got infected because I didn't

treat them as I couldn't feel them, only a little itching. Ice should be

fine, as well as warm moist towels.

Re: Genetics- I have scoliosis (y'all know my story), Mom has it as bad as I

did prior to my rods & fusion, my sister has a very mild case, My maternal

grandmother has it, & my maternal great-grandmother is believed to have died

from complications of it. There only one case of it paternally that we know

of & she is a first cousin. She was the first person who was able to

identify with my feeling like a freak after my surgery as a teenager. She is

now disabled as well, & her surgery was about 15 years earlier than mine.

BTW the identical twin thing really has me stumped! Maybe they should have

let her wear some prism glasses LOL. ughhh Bad joke I know.... but I

couldn't resist.

Blessings,

Carla Kay

When I was a kid, my mother practically made me live in a bubble. I was

mostly home-schooled, wasn't allowed out hardly EVER between Oct-April and was

very limited in having friends and even family over. I hated it and felt very

alienated - and I STILL got sick. I moved out at 21, lived my life, went

shopping in the winter and to the movies, etc. and I'm 3 months away from

turning 25

and have only had a cold 2-3 times since. I personally feel we need to give

our immune systems a chance to fight stuff off.

I agree. I think if you lock yourself up all the time it's worse. I just

avoid staying around people for long periods of time who have chest/sinus

congestion. I don't blame the guy who sneezed in the elevator for making me

sick. I

still go to college, movies, plays, concerts and see friends in the winter. Plus

I have 4 kids under 12 yrs who come to my house a few times a month that

bring germs. I'm hardly sheltered from germs.

Every kid SMA or not gets more cold because they haven't fought off or had

the virus before. As you age you build your immune system. Like before middle

school I was hospitalized almost yearly but through middle & high school I got

one minor cold a year.

Yeah don't spend major money on Tony Little, just if you see them at a garage

sale or thrift store for a buck or two. I need to do the Fabio workout again

soon. I keep trying to tell Terry he needs to try it as well, he's too macho to

take any advise from a girl though. <sigh>

I try to read as much as possible but a political career leads to no life. Plus

I've been working out ALOT. Today I'm wearing a suit I bought two months ago

that is a size 8. Its slightly tight in the skirt, but the jacket fits fine

(amazing considering my large shelf) and its a pricey suit. I paid $20 at

Goodwill, but originally it cost someone a lot of money. And it always seems to

me that the higher end products size smaller. And I'm pretty consistant in being

a size 8 in jeans.....come on 6!!

I must confess that this last week has been one large binge fest for me food

wise. I feel like I just got off of Survivor. Lets hope I don't start gaining it

back!

Miss ya'll
