I've just had an MRI scan on my neck area, because I can't put my head back

without feeling very dizzy and it takes about thirty minutes for me to feel OK

again. I also have the same problem when I lie down at night time and when I

rise in the morning. I can be lying in bed and move my tongue from side to side

and sometimes get an involuntary spasm through my head. The MRI scan revealed

that the gaps between my neck vertabrae are narrowing, and the doctor mentioned

the word " spondilytis " though I haven't as yet noticed any stiffening of my

spine. My spine does hurt if I carry heavy objects. My doctor has just referred

me to the rheumatology department of our local hospital, and I am awaiting an

appointment. This week I've started taking glucosamine with chrondroitin and

rosehip, but I don't think it suits me because my concentration seems all over

the place and I feel a bit disorientated.

I've been on virgin coconut oil for about two months now, but I cannot see any

dramatic improvements in my health. I love cooking with it, and include it in

most of my meals. I've also been putting it on my face, but my skin looks much

older, so today decided to go back to my usual moisturiser.

I also hoped that it would help with weight loss, but sadly I've not lost any.

Does anyone have any constructive suggestions. Many thanks.

Hi ,

I also have neck problems. I had some before I had achalasia but when I was in

the USA for 4 months this summer I was getting PT and rolfing to loosen the

abdominal wall and other soft tissue in my abdomen. It seems that the

tightening of the abdomen (not sure if there is scar tissue from the myotomy 2

years ago) results in the body curving forward and putting significant strain on

the neck. The PT and rolfing have really helped but I have to make sure to

stretch and watch my posture particularly when I am on the computer.

Fascinating! Maybe we have a study of our own, tho anecdotal. I will try to

find the original online article.

I have neck problems as well, not sure what exactly the problem is, I go to the

orthopedist next year. Had no idea it could be linked to achalasia
