A really good relief measure for candida brain fog/drunkenness

Alka-Seltzer Gold and/or Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief tabets for candida brain

fog/drunkenness

I recommend the above-listed products very highly for dealing with

reactions/responses from candida overgrowth, allergies, chemical

overload/multiple chemical sensitivities.

They're especially good for those times when I've accidentally eaten something

that creates a brain fog reaction; and they even work quite well to help clear

brain fog due to accidental chemical inhalant exposure.

And, of course, one could probably substitute by using baking soda in warm

water. The trick would be in determining how much baking soda to use each time,

I'm sure. A few times to experiment ... that shouldn't be too difficult.

Anyway, I'm amazed at how well those two particular Alka-Seltzer products are

working for me ... I just wanted to share in case someone else here might be

interested. One of my theories is that they help to bind toxins in the

intestines so that those toxins don't get re-absorbed over and over again.

I'm feeling way better more often then before, and for longer periods of time.

It's easier for me now to tell what I am and am not reacting to -- because I do

feel so much better -- as I continue to modify my anti-candida diet.

Hope this helps someone here!

Hi Cecilia,

Great information. For me this was a reminder; I used Alka-Seltzer Gold

in the last few years to counteract the effects of chemical reactions

because I have chemical sensitivities (back on my feet 3/4 of the way

now). It worked great. I also used 1/2 baking soda and 1/2 salt, and

this too worked, though less than the above.

Word of caution : I would check if Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief has

aluminium or not. Last I knew, only Alka-Seltzer Gold did not have it

(info given by my environmental MD). Alka-Seltzer alkalanises the body,

thus reducing reactions (when the body reacts, it is more acid; or the

more acid the body is, the more it reacts).

(Also : It is possible that in some cases, people with chemical

sensitivities might react somewhat to Alka-Seltzer. Otherwise, the

product works great.)

Hi Fran --

Yeah, this was sort of a reminder for me, too; and I learned about this one

(Alka-Seltzer Gold) a few months ago at a chronic fatigue syndrome group.

Unfortunately, my thyroid medication was too high at the time and it only worked

one time, though I tried it every day for a week. Now that my thyroid

medication is more at a normal level, these Alka-Seltzer formulas are working

almost every time.

I, too, have suffered from chemical overload syndrome/multiple chemical

sensitivities -- especially during 2000 and 2001 -- and I know that even with a

rotation diet, it takes quite some time to clear stored toxins from the body;

and by doing so, therefore reducing and eliminating the chemical

overload/allergic responses that they cause.

In February of 2001, at the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas, I

learned about using baking soda in warm water, regular salt, buffered Vitamin C

and/or psyllium for allergic responses/reactions. No one ever mentioned using

them for candida reactions; but in retrospect, it makes sense that anything

containing one or more of those ingredients should work well for helping the

body to bind and eliminate candida reactions, and candida die-off toxins, too.

Hey, aren't those chemical overload reactions horrible, eh?! I've never been so

miserable in my entire life as I was during 2000 and 2001. Any kind of reaction

where you feel like you're about to jump out of your skin if someone drops an

ink pen on the floor, is completely and utterly bad, bad, bad.

Also, I went through many months where -- just as I was about to fall asleep --

I would have to sit straight up in bed ... some kind of adrenal response, I'm

sure. I ended up having to sleep sitting almost straight up in a recliner; and

even then, sleeping was difficult. But as soon as the chemical overload started

easing up, that particular symptom went away.

Wishing you all the best in your search for wellness!

Cecilia

Fran --

I am the Queen of Ooops Posts, yet again! LOL

Thanks for the heads-up on the potential aluminum content of the Alka-Seltzer

Gold and Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief tablets. I am definitely keeping that

one in mind for future reference.

One other thing, for anyone interested, is that the Alka-Seltzer Heartburn

Relief Formula contains Aspartame (Nutrasweet is the brand name).

I don't know if the Alka-Seltzer Gold formula contains Aspartame or not. I ran

out last week; and the store I went to a few days ago didn't have any on hand,

or else I'd go check the label.

As usual, one gets the best results with a proper diet and probiotics as far as

candida overgrowth is concerned. But my aim at the moment is to find remedies

that I can use whenever the expected occurs, whether the culprit is ingested or

inhaled.

==>Cecelia, baking soda doesn't help with toxins. It alkalinizes

acid in the stomach. Taking it too frequently or every day will

interfere with digestion. There are other more natural things you can

take that will help with severe reactions, rather than taking Alka-

Seltzer Gold, which can severely throw off mineral balances if taken

too often or even daily. It contains " heat-treated " sodium

bicarbonate, which I'm sure wouldn't be good. Here's the published

side effects:

The following side effects are associated with Alka-Seltzer Gold Oral:

Common side effects:

==>How can toxins in the intestines get re-absorbed over and over

again? That isn't what I understand about how the intestines work.

However, good saturated fats help your body chelate out toxins, and

they also heal and strengthen the lining of the intestines. Inhaled

toxins wouldn't get into the digestive system except for tiny amounts

that get swallowed. They would go into your lungs.

Hello Bee!

I know that you're always strapped for time, so please accept my Texas-sized

thank-you for your response!

I see that perhaps one of my theories may be in error -- that maybe the 'binding

the toxins from the stomach to the intestines' idea should be scrapped? That

it's more likely that the increased alkalinity that's made the difference,

instead?

In any case, I'm glad that it works! I just hope that it continues to do so, of

course.

In the 'toxins being absorbed over and over again', so sorry -- I wasn't

detailed enough there -- I was referring to how, when one eats something that

the candida enjoy, toxins are released. When one takes an antifungal, then

one's body has to deal with toxins from the candida food reactions * plus * the

toxins from their die-off.

With chemical odor inhalants, I was meaning the toxins that the candida release

in response to them (in those of us who are lucky enough to have this

experience). For example: I get the exact same brand of candida 'drunk and

miserable' from eating wheat bread, as I do from one measly minute's worth of

perfume exposure. I'm sure that that has not only to do with the toxin levels

in my body, but also to how my liver is processing them all, amongst other

issues.

I learned to use baking soda, regular table salt, Vitamin C, psyllium, oxygen,

etc. as remedies for allergic responses/reactions, back in early 2000 at the

Environmental Health Clinic in Dallas, Texas. However they really work, I'm

glad that they do! Not only with allergies but with candida reactions, as well.

If you have any more observations or theories to report, I'm all ears! I'm

trying to learn as much about all of these individual elements as I can.

Thanks, also, for the suggestion on adding more saturated fats to one's diet to

help chelate toxins. I think I'll start pretending to be Italian, and begin

eating bread dipped in olive oil at least once a day. LOL (Or I'll mix Italian

with Hawaiian, and use coconut oil, instead? Become Hawaii-talian? ;-) LOL)

Cecilia, still taking lots of notes, and learning something new every day

I use the Alka Gold for allergic reactions and gastric reflux. Have never

tried the other. Can you tell me what the ingredients are?

thanks.

Hi Lilly --

Very interesting, what you've noted here. This is from citric acid, itself, or

from any possible/probable fermentation that's gone on?

I feel another test coming up: lemon juice in water. I don't recall ever

having any trouble (candida reactions) after having had that mixture; but then

again I don't think I've taken it on empty stomach for some years now. The best

way to test anything suspicious is on an empty stomach, as far as candida are

concerned.

I make a good test subject for detecting sugars/fermentation, in case anyone is

interested. For example: I get candida 'drunk and miserable' on ThreeLac,

which contains only 1 gram of sugar, taken from red beet powder. This reacton

happens within one minute for me.

In any case, I don't get any adverse reactions from taking either of the

Alka-Seltzer remedies that I've posted on this thread. In fact, they've both

made my life so much better to the point where I've felt compelled to share them

with everyone I know.

No, no -- you've been very helpful! And thanks for posting again just now ...

you've given me information that will likely help me to make better buying
