Lynn - thanks so much for your story - did the vet test the cat for bart or just

treat?  What was to dose and for how long did they treat your daughters cat?

Bless you and thank you :)  Diane

Subject: [ ] Bartonella/Cats

Hello all, I wanted to share this with the group in case it may help. Both my

daughter and I continued to have Bartonella symptoms after 2 years of treatment.

We started to suspect that perhaps her cat was reinfecting us. This cat was

literally the cat from Hell. It would bite and scratch us constantly. It would

scratch itself constantly and take off running for now apparent reason. We

surmised that it was being bothered by fleas even though it was given flea meds

once a month. I suspected that the cat had been injured and was in pain because

of its other unusual behaviors not allowing us to touch its hips or legs. Long

story short, our cats' vet knowing that we both had Lyme including Bartonella,

agreed to treat both cats for Bartonella. My daughter and I were on antibiotics

at the same time as the cats. BINGO! I have no more sweats; my daughter still

does to a lesser degree, but has other issues. The extra ordinary change is in

the cat. She is loving and sweet now like a normal cat. We are convinced that

she had Bartonella and was reinfecting us. Her disposition changed immediately

after treatment with doxycycline. The change in the cat is unbelievable. This

poor cat was a stray and suffered for six years until now.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and much happiness, health and love,

Lynn

Neither of the cats were tested. I had to go to a compounding pharmacy to get

the liquid Doxy. They actually put a flavoring with it like tuna etc. It was

20mg 2 times daily for 14 days. It is obvious that the cat was suffering and is

well now, a completely different cat. The vet was hesitant to give the cats the

Doxy because of side effects, but because we weren't getting better she agreed,

also she knew how horrendous the cat was.
