Consider oral anti-viral medications such as Valtrex to knock it out but

continue with the OTC cold sore remedy. I am a nurse by the way.

improving, I am definitely going to continue what I'm taking until

every last bit of thrush is gone.

Now I've got sores on my lips, particularly in the corners. When I

open my mouth to floss (i've got early gum disease - imperative that

I floss) the sores open and bleed.

I've tried about 8 different topical remedies.[ vitamin E,

homeopathic cold sore remedy, drug store cold sore remedies]. NOthing

has helped.

My MD recommended lotrimin, his nurse rec. neosporin or bacitracin

ointment. I haven't tried these yet.

Anybody have any luck with these?

A friend of mine who is really into holistic healing thinks the lip

sores are part of the thrush.

Any thoughts on this?

Has anybody had this and what has worked for you?

thanks,

ellen

The lip sores may be thrush but they may be Herpes Simplex, pretty much fever

blisters & that does coincide w/Lyme, stress, virus, etc. My daughter just got

it on her lips for the first time (maybe stress or a virus in her case), anyway

I asked the Pharmacist & she said Carmex ($1.39) works pretty well, there is a

lot of other stuff but pricey. I happened to have Zovirax (an Rx since I used to

get it on my nose!) so she used a little Zovirax + Carmex. & it helped a lot.

Those things take time but it did clear it up in a decent amount of time.

If it could be Herpes Simplex, it is very careful so be careful not to share

anything, hand towel, etc. I even occasionally run all the toothbrushes through

the dishwasher, which I did this time too! I hope that helps, good luck!

if nothing else, they are petroleum jelly based so will act like

I use camphophenique gel.works great.just keep putting it on and a " canker "

sore will not open up.......then use neomycin to help heal it. I have used

it for 40 years. it is form of hepes simplex and when our immune systems

are down the mouth sores start.

also can do a 2nd search on keywords

.. It has some different appearances to the way it looks and photos can be

helpful.

HTH,

I have found aloe vera, applying it frequently, is very helpful.

Esp. if I clean with an astringent before applying. A little massage

with aloe vera on a fingertip speeds it along.

Have you tried rinsing your mouth with 3% H202 in water?
