Re: Hair loss - any solution?

The people on the Oleander Soup newsgroup claim that oleander prevents most all

chemo related side effects including hair loss. My Mom who has been following

the Budwig Protocol is going to start taking the Sutherlandia OPC capsules and I

believe she might be starting with chemo again after a three-four month break.

We will see how she fairs. She had hair loss as well as severe side effects and

stopped chemo after two treatments.

Rose

Hi. Does any one know any remedy to minimize hair loss caused by chemo? Just

that my mom has been losing so much hair with her most recent chemo and I am

really hoping to do something to help her. Thanks.HP

I think oleander grows hair in general! I swear I have more hair than

before I started taking it. Yep -- I used to have 2 hairs, and now I

have 3. Amazing.

Chemo is nasty nasty stuff. Or at least this was my experience. I

think I'll start a separate thread on it.

Jim,

So are you being sarcastic? Do you not think the Oleander could reduce the side

effects of chemo or just not the hair loss part?

Oh, I don't know about reducing side effects. Chemo almost killed me --

twice -- so I'm not going near it again to find out!

Regarding growing hair in general, I think that oleander can do that!

I think I read something about that, perhaps on the oleander forum, and

I swear I have maybe 20% more hair on my head than when I started

taking it.

Of course this might be a conspiracy to try to sell more oleander. :)

I am no expert at all about this but I have been told more then once

that Nioxin is what some people use. You may want to look into it

also.

It's not cheap but this time of year you can find them in twin packs a

little cheaper.

Best of luck,

I forgot to mention Colloidal Silver. People have reported thicker hair growth

and also natural color restoration from taking it internally AND applying it

directly to the scalp.

Interesting. I run an organic soap and lotion company and just made up

a lotion by request for someone for a certain hair loss diagnosis.

It was a combination of I think 4 different essential oils in two

carrier oils. Not sure if it will work but if anyone wants to try it

themselves I can give out the recipe. I believe it takes months though

to see.

Is this a drug? Do you know what it is? When I was taking bio identical

hormones my hair was very thick and since I stopped about 2 months ago I am

thinning rapidly on the top.

Back in 2001 I took 600 mg Biotin 3x a day (GNC brand).  Although my hair

thinned, I never went bald, and what I did lose was growing in before I was even

done with my 6 months of chemo.  I have an aunt who has recurring non-Hodgkin's

lymphoma and she had to have experimental drugs because she had had everything

on the market at that time.  I sent her some Biotin to take, same as I did, and

she never lost her hair either.  The onco ward where I had my chemo now

recommends the Biotin at the same dose I took to their incoming patients.
