Kathy,

In the member files, there's a " throat coat " tea that I make and my

family swears by it. It's made to be sipped continually, keeping the

throat less irritated. It's basically one part of all of the

following:

Marshmallow Root

Licorice Root

Slippery Elm

Peppermint (1/2 part maybe? to taste)

1/2 part of echinacea

I also add honey and a little lemon juice once it's brewed. I am

sorry the measurements aren't really exact...I just sort of grab

handfuls of stuff and mix it up :)

As for stomach...My bf has a lot of trouble with gastritis and hiatal

hernias.

After big meals (especially ones with lots of dairy or grease or

meat), I have him chew fennel seeds for indegestion, or he drinks

peppermint tea nearly immediately after to aid in digestion.

However, I've made a new tea (again, no real measurements) using

Fennelseeds, ginger, Slippery elm, peppermint and chammomile as well

as some turmeric. He seems to feel like that works pretty well. Not

only does it soothe the gastritis and irritated tissues, but settles

upset stomach.

If it is just upset stomach, I would try a tea with peppermint,

ginger, chammomile and perhaps a pinch of cayenne. :)

Best,

Anne

Hi Cori --

I have had and continue to get mild sore throats every so often ever since i

was dxed in Dec 03. I did have my onc/hem doc check it out and sore throats

are actually one side effect of Gleevec. I tend to get them when i am

particularly tired. They also go away on their own.

As you started treatment not long ago and probably don't know yet if you

immune system is back to normal I ll advise you to contact your onco/hemato.

Also you have to be careful taking cold drugs.
