salt cravings

Hi there

Most cramps are caused by a lack of magnesium. How much salt do you have

daily? We do need a certain amount, and maybe your body is telling you that

you need more? Do you sweat a lot? This could explain why you crave salt

too? Try juicing celery and another vege high in potassium. Celery is high

in natural sodium. A hair analysis would show if you are imbalanced in

those areas you mentioned. I had one done a few years ago in Australia.

It was very accurate. Also told me I was lleaning towards hypothyroidism.

Funny that......

Hi there,

Does anyone have a child who craves salty foods, and do you know what

this might indicate? My son craves Mc's french fries, peanuts in

the shell, salty popcorn and tortilla chips and hard-boiled eggs dipped

in salt. Sometimes it gets so bad we have to hide the salt shaker.

Thanks for all your help!

Dee,

How funny....I was just dealing with this. My daughter has been

literally eating pure salt. LOTS of it. I get Celtic sea salt, so at

least it is a more healthful salt. We are currently doing NAET, and

the last time we were there, the doctor said she had developed a

chlorine allergy. She never swims in chlorinated water and our house

water is filtered so I couldn't figure out where she was getting her

chlorine exposure. Then I thought of all that salt....sodium CHLORIDE!

He treated her for the chlorine allergy, and she has not wanted any

salt since. Poof....the craving was gone.

Hi

We too seem to have a salt craving. I would be very interested to know how you

treated her chlorine allergy.

Thanks Kay.

As previously indicated, usually it is a sign of iodine deficiency or

adrenal issues. Here is an adrenal info page

But, I'm wondering if some of this, particularly the salt cravings, could be due

to the twice daily enemas? What could be causing the salt cravings?

+++Hi Debra,

That's good you don't crave sweets! A yellow tongue is toxic chemicals being

released, which can also happen to teeth when you detoxify, so it too will pass.

To increase your appetite do deep breathing exercises, particularly before

meals:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/breath4.php

When you or your body are stressed your body runs on its fight/flight nervous

system which causes these responses:

-your mouth becomes dry because saliva production is decreased

-your breathing becomes more shallow yet you are breathing faster

-your lungs and bronchial tubes are expanded to provide more oxygen

-your stomach produces much less stomach acid (HCl)

-the movement of your bowels is slowed down

-it is more difficult to urinate, since the valve to your bladder is kept closed

-your heart rate increases, as well as the force of heart contractions (it feels

like pounding in your chest)

-the pupils in your eyes get larger (open up)

-your adrenals glands increase production of adrenaline and other hormones

-blood is sent to the brain while skin and internal organs get less oxygen

-muscle tension is increased

Sometimes you just have to force yourself to eat since it's mainly the nutrients

that are going to heal your body, and also help it be less stressed.

It is okay to have more sea salt. It is important for the adrenals, which are

kicked into high gear as above.

The best, Bee

Hello Debra,

I have always had salt cravings - before I started this diet I would, of course,

eat bad salts and foods containing them.  Since discovering sea salt I have not

had this problem. Ensure that you are drinking your electrolyte drinks or

otherwise consuming enough sea salt throughout the day.

The minerals in sea salt are very healing for your adrenals.  Possibly they are

asking for more support in the manner of cravings!  I know when I first started

drinking the electrolyte drink my body responded in the most astonishing way,

wanting MORE. :)

Your energy running low could be a sign of detox or healing... have you been

feeling better as you progress through the nine day program?

I've read through these posts for salt cravings, and it seems like everyone

craves sweets. I'm having the opposite problem. I'm craving salt!

I've been on Bee's program for a month now and am on hump day (#5) of her 9-day

program. I've noticed a yellow tongue for the first time. Mine's usually a

pale to average pink. Also, my normal hearty appetite has vanished. The very

thought of food almost makes me ill, including the egg drink. I can't stomach

food or supplements. Finally, my energy is running pretty darn low. Usually my

energy is fine.

I know what your answers will be: detox symptoms, and hang in there, right?

But, I'm wondering if some of this, particularly the salt cravings, could be due

to the twice daily enemas? What could be causing the salt cravings?

andra & Bee - Today is much better. Thank you both for your explanations

and caring.

The liquid egg drink is not my preferred way to consume eggs, but thanks to your

replies, I understand the beneficial aspects of it, so I force myself to do it.

But I reduce the recipe to two eggs and one tablespoon of coconut oil.

As today was day #6, and Saturday, I was out much of the day with my beautiful

14-year-old son. I took one little bite of a submarine sandwich he ordered, had

one sample of pork and salsa at Costco, and indulged in a green tea while out

and about. One of those items seemed to trigger a reoccurring off-and-on issue

I've had with my eye for about a year now. What I love about this diet is the

ability to instantly tell when you've taxed your body in any way. Before, what

with the hodgepodge of food going in, it was hard to tell what was causing

problems.

I believe I've seen evidence of candida leaving my system with the enemas. My

appetite has completely come back and my energy level has stabilized. The salt

cravings have subsided. And the yellow coating on my tongue, while still there,

is diminishing. I've made some amazing blended soups since I started the

nine-day program. On the downside, I've had the worst herpes outbreak I can

remember. But I know I'm through the worst of it, and I'm feeling lighter,

leaner, and more resolved.

I so appreciate the support of this forum -- unbelievable!

PS Bee: Did you make your tax deadline?

+++Hi Debra,

That's wonderful you are getting good results from the 9-Day Program, and that

you have a good time with your son!

You wouldn't be seeing candida in your stools, since it is way to small.

Instead you are seeing mucus, which is created by your body to get rid of

toxins, so that's a good thing!

Onward & upward, Bee

Debra,

That's wonderful!  I'm so glad that you are feeling better.  I recently did the

9 day program myself and it was like a miracle, LOL.
