Marilyn, thanks for your input. I don't think I'm ready to change from the

Imuran. I am still only at 50mg but have been able to drop my pred to 17 1/2

mg already with no signs of a flare. I do believe that the Imuran will work

for me. (POssitive thinking) I just don't want to start something else right

now when everything seems to be going okay for now. And Lord knows I really

don't want that rash (with my luck, I'd get it too) LOL Think I'll stay

right where I am with the meds. Why stop a good thing.?

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for the great joke.

Dear ,

I wish I could have stayed on it, felt so good the first couple of

weeks. Then I got the rash. For many people the drug works great with

no problems. It's used a lot for Lupus. You should give it a try -

I'm a fine one to talk, huh. Doctors usually like to try the most

conservative treatment first to see if it has success. I have the notes

from my doctor's report and he did say that Plaquenil isn't very

effective for RP, but he was going to try it anyway.

Love, Marilyn

What does this Plaquenil do?

Plaquenil is another anti-inflammatory. It is a form of quinine--but I wouldn't recommend just taking quinine. (they used it for malaria). Too much of it, and your vision can be lost.

If you go to WWW.ARTHRITIS.ORG there is a wonderful Drug Summary that they put out-- usually in Jan/Feb of each year. The 2005 summary goes over all the different drugs, and gives you the class they're in-- explaining the side effects, dosages, and such. It's excellant, and truly, it's the one I consult when you guys ask me questions. (LOL!--no I don't remember all these straight off the top of my head.)

Hope this helps,
