Does your MIL take a snack at bedtime ? Like 1/2 sandwich and milk or a

yogurt? protein/carb combination? That usually helped me. Another thing is when

we eat dinner. If it is early youmight go up during the nite(liver dumping

glucose) or if it is late8-9 that seems to late for a snack This might also

throw

things off. Just some of my experience.

My MIL has been given an increase in her Metformin. She's had no

problems during the day but says she's woke up at 3:30AM for two nites

now, and 4:30 the third nite. Testing her sugar at 53 the first nite

and 63 the second two. The third nite I had her put some cream cheese

on the crackers she has before bed hopeing that would help. Any

suggestions on how to prevent this nightly low?

The Dr. is aware of what has happened and has asked her to keep taking

this dose for 2 weeks to see if she will adjust and then will decrease

it if she doesn't.

Thank you

Phyllis

Thank you Cat. We eat dinner 5-5:30 and she has a

snack around 10PM. I saw an empty oj glass this

morning so she must have been up again last nite, but

she hasn't given me the numbers yet. Her evening

numbers are good, just during the overnite.
