Val, I am a realtor, but haven't been able to work at all in the last 9

months. I haven't slept well in years. I take an ambien cr to go to

sleep. Usually fall asleep around midnight. I wake up usually between

2:50 - 5:50 am & have to get something to eat. I have night sweats, my

whole body hurts, restless. I haven't felt well in the mornings for

years. Usually would start feeling better in the middle of the

afternoon. I get my energy in the evening & nighttime. Except now I am

in a state of total exhaustion. I shake, have hot flashes, cry about

the least little thing, can't handle any conversation that requires a

decision from me. I don't want to be around people (and I have always

been a people-person). I'm a mess & am at my wits end about what to

do. Why are my results unusual? ( I didn't sleep well the night before

the tests as I was worried about not waking up early enough because I

have been feeling so bad I usually don't get out of bed until 9-10am.)--

She put me on 15 mg compounded DHEA. I only took it for a month as my

doctor that is treating the Thyroid & now Adrenals didn't think I

needed it. He started me on 20mgs of HC based on my emps & blood

pressure readings. My sister has breast cancer so I've been advised not

to take HRT.

HIGH estrogen causes breast cancer as does low iodiner.. both symptoms of low

cortisl and low thyroid. Your suister shoudl have her thyroid checked! but ther

eis no need for you to go withotu the estrogen your body needs NORMAL estrogen

levels do not cause cancer. Low will cause many of the symptoms you are having.

Val,

Should I stay on the HC? I guess I'm totally confused. If the

morning cortisol is 16 (normal) and the noon is 35 (elevated) &

afternoon is 15 (elevated) and midnight is 2 (normal). Then why is

my blood pressure lower upon standing & do I need HC? I'm sorry to

be so dense, but I am not undertanding this yet.

I would suggest oyu try to wean off the HC an get some estrogen in you

there is bioidentiacal estrogen that is safe as long as oyu do nto use

too much. But some of your symptoms I am certain are form low estrogen.

The estrogen will aslo help lower the cortils as well as some DHEA which

may help your adrenals proiduce estrogen instead of too much cortiosl.

Val,

Still I'm confused! My hormones on the Saliva Test from Diagnos-Techs,

Inc. puts me in the HRT Target Range. They are as follows:

Results Reference Values/Key

Estrone 61 Normal for Age 50-59: 26-64

Estradiol 6 HRT Target Range: 5-13

Progesterone 264 HRT Target Range: 100-300

Free Testosterone 11 Normal: 8-20

Estradiol 6 HRT Target Range: 5-13

Thsi si the important estrogen thatwe all need. You are at the bottom of the

range. I would look at the range for your AGE not HRT range whic is usually too

low for good health. All this started with the scare when they used to pump

MAJOR estrogens in women in meno and post hysterectomy. I know I was one of

them. Then they did a study withj HUGE amoutns of unnatural estrogens which

started causing cancer n the participants. These studies were never done with

NORMAL amounts of BIOIDENTICAL estrogens.
