I have a question for those ladies who have had myos.....

How long after your myo did it take to get your period again?

The irony here is almost too much.... me waiting for my period. There

was only one week in October that I didn't bleed. That's when I

started taking Aygestin/Norethindrone to stop the bleeding. (This was

after the Provera/Medroxyprogesterone failed to control it.) I

haven't had a period since. I am 3 weeks post-myo today and have not

taken any hormones since the morning of my myo. My periods were such

an ordeal before and I am unsure how they will be now. I really don't

want to get caught off guard mainly.

Thanks,

Debi

I had my myo on 12/7/01 and just started my period 4 days ago.

I am not sure of the date because I don't have a calendar in front of

me. I was hoping that it wouldn't come because I heard that

sometimes when you stop taking Lupron your period can be delayed up

until a couple of months afterwards. However, that was not the case

for me. I didn't have any problems with my periods anyway. They

usually last 3-4 days. In fact when I got this one, it took me a

while to realize that it was the actual period starting because the

doctor said that I would get some discharge periodically.

Debi:

I got my period about 5 weeks post myo. I was also

on Lupron. I only took the one shot though. I was

told it takes 2-3 months for the Lupron to get out of

your system and for your period to return to normal.

I had my shot the end of September. Also, my period

was very odd. It came and went in about 3 days. It

was really heavy for ONE day only. Then I had

spotting for the rest of the week. It was different.

I just got my period again this week and it was great.

Very light and short lived. Things will get better

for you too. I am sure of it.

Hi Debi- I think I got my period about five weeks after my myo- it

was a pretty heavy one, and I remember being upset, thinking that I

had gone through everything for naught, but then the second and third

periods were a dream! No cramps and very light bleeding for only a

few days. It was like I was 20 again! I was on birthcontrol pills

prior to surgery, but not lupron- I do think the birthcontrol

hormones took a while to get out of my system. Hope you keep feeling

better and better! Holly

Hi Debi,

I know what you are going through night now. I am gooing to be 7

weeks post-up this friday and I still haven't got my period back. I

am also afraid of what to expect when I do get it. My periods were

also bad before I started on the Lupron, so the last period I had was

in September.

Thanks to all the women who responded to my period question. I am still

waiting at just over 3 weeks... I am feeling a bit PMS-ish though so we

will see. :)
