It seems to me that it's a case of 'damned if we do, and damned if we don't " .

My sweet nephew is now undergoing chemo for his non-hodgkins lymphoma, and the

first thing they gave him was Prednisone.

While it looks as if the whole thing with the treatments for auto-immune

diseases is a crap shoot, we are so much better off than those that had RA years

ago. I remember going to visit an elderly relative when I was a child. Her

whole house smelled of Bengay, and she was always in pain.

Patsy,

It's more likely a case of damned if you don't. The long-term effects of

high levels of inflammation are well-described and quite serious.

Today, there are more and better treatment options and superior strategies

used to control the inflammation and put diseases like RA into remission.

This will probably translate into longer, better quality lives and less

lymphoma, too.

So sorry about your nephew.
