Moderator's note:

Here is a link about the Lidoderm Patch. It is removed every 12 hours to prevent

Lidocaine toxicity.

Talk to your physician, or pharmacist about leaving it on longer.

Hello cindy -

I have lidoderm patches that I'm currently using on what the doctor

suspects is trigeminal neuralgia just getting started. I originally

had them for something else (long story). They do have novocaine in

them, but funny thing is, they won't make the skin underneath them

numb. The novocaine goes through the skin to (hopefully) numb

whatever is hurting underneath.

They aren't narcotics, and aren't addicting. I have noticed that

they will make me feel a little " funny " - but I'm sensitive to meds,

and you may not notice them at all.

The restriction isn't " only on three places " , it's " only three

patches' worth " - which means you can cut up one patch into teeny

pieces, and put them all over - and you'd still have two patches'

worth left you could still use.

I'm not sure why the " 12 hours on, 12 hours off " , but I stick by

it. Besides, I'd look pretty funny at work with these stark white

patches on my temples! ;-)
