Re: OT-Lyme Disease?

The easiest way to get a tick to release is put vaseline on the part you can

see, it can't breathe and will back out.

Are you in an area where Lyme disease is prevalent?

Did you keep the tick in a container, so that it could be tested to see if

it is a carrier?

Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin

rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to

joints, the heart, and the nervous system.

studies have shown that most patients can be cured with a few weeks of

antibiotics taken by mouth. Antibiotics commonly used for oral treatment

include doxycycline, amoxicillin, or cefuroxime axetil.

This former camp nurse, knows how serious this disease is....please don't

over look treatment.

Peopleweaver.

No, didn't keep it, didn't know it could be tested. I think we

probably live in prevalent area, live in East TN. I read the CDC

statement about antibiotics for several weeks; several weeks seems

extremely severe to me with no symptoms. At the same time, know a

woman here who had it, she had to give up breeding her dogs over it.

<sigh> No easy answers for a mom, huh?

Thanks for your input. THanks also for the vaseline suggestion, hadn't

heard that one. Would think in my region I woulda heard it all! I'd

heard the alcohol makes it unable to breathe and will make it release,

I think all we did was kill it.

Have her checked, they can do a blood test. They might

need to REPEAT the test, but if you don't have the

tick testing the kid is their best shot. That way she

isn't getting more antibiotics in her life than

necessary. Supergerms are awful.

who has a sinus infection that's defeated 2

antibiotics and has pretty much given up getting rid

of it

I've heard sometimes sinus infections like that can be yeast

infections in the sinus cavity. I've struggled with sinus/respiratory

infections. When I started taking folinic acid, beta glucan, b-12, and

vit E I got significantly better, and singulair has been my close

friend, lol. I found out later that the avandamet I was on is known to

rob folate from the body. You think any of your meds are running down

your stores?

HTH,

I'm on 3 anticonvulsants, and those can rob the body

of folic acid, so I take a replacement. I take vit E

and b12 sublinguals too. beta glucan I'm not familiar

with...but if it was a yeast-type infection it

wouldn't surprise me, since prednisone is kind of

known for making people suceptable to fungus. Oh well.

I'll beat it eventually. Or else make a doctor culture

it and go from there.

the precaution of antibiotic can save a lifetime of misery as Lyme disease

(Borrelia Bergdorferi) and the co-infections such as Erlichia, Babesia,

Bartonella, can be close to impossible to eradicate once those diseases take

hold...

This is one time where the axiom " better safe than sorry " really fits.

Please do not wait to see if the tell-tale " Bull's Eye Rash " develops.

Hope This Helps,

....
