Hi, Everyone....Liz....I had to laugh at your comment about the body

falling apart. I have an appt tomorrow with my PCP because I feel like I'm

falling apart, too. I figured it's either my Dad's Rheumatoid arthritis coming

on or my Mom's gout. Either way, it's painful to walk and my right elbow

is useless lately!!! I hope they can figure out what to do with Tori.

<<Lately she hasn't been sleeping through the night. She's up different

times overnight, sometimes for 2 hours at a time bouncing in the bed. Her

latest trick is banging against the side of the bed

which makes a really loud sound waking everybody up.>>

srm.....are you new to the group? Welcome, if you are. The only thing we

have ever given Gareth for sleeping is OTC Benadryl every night. That

works for him. Melatonin is used by others but it makes me and Gareth fly

higher than a kite, so watch carefully the first few times you try it.

Benadryl makes my other son hyper, so it's really something that you have to

*play* with in order to get them sleeping. Where do you live. Did they say if

the sleep disruptions were from sleep apnea or stopping to breathe?

Take care, Everyone.

I've been in the group for a while as we've suspected Autism for a long time,

but she doesn't fit all the criteria for the diagnosis, just the behavioral part

of it. We had a sleep study done about 6 months ago. She had over 100 sleep

interruptions, but for no known reasons. It wasn't heart, breathing, sleep

apnea. They don't know what the reason was.

This has been going on to some extent for a couple of years, it's just more

frequent now. We haven't tried medication yet, but I know it has been used by

others in the past. We live in Massachusetts, and we see Dr. Skotko at

Children's Hospital Boston. I need to make another appointment with him in the

Down Syndrome Clinic so I'll ask about the medication.

BTW..she slept for 10 hours last night! Don't know why, but I'm thrilled!
