Hi Tina

that sounds nice. I macerated fresh calendula flowers in wheatgerm

oil and found it really effective - combined with a good wholefood

diet -

I find that it helps if the mother is really hydrated and takes oils internally as well as externally.x From: christine892597

Has anyone a brilliant prescription for stretch marks in pregnancy?

I have looked up the achives, and one presciption given by Mr Priest combines Castor oil and Ponds cream. Just wondered if castor oil is contraindicated in pregnancy on the skin.

I am thinking of prescribing rosehip oil and Vitamin E as a massage oil.

Thank you

it also helps to use olive oil as a massage oil, can put some neroli EO in it and mandarin EO in 0.5-1.0% dilution. Marilena. To: ukherbal-list From: dalbinderbains@...Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2012 08:14:10 +0100Subject: Re: Stretch marks in pregnancy

Hi,Just wondering if you are trying to prevent stretchmarks or if your patient already has them?As Dalbinder said, hydration and internal and external oils will help to increase skin elasticity and help to prevent stretchmarks. For stretchmarks that have already appeared, I use Wheatgerm, Rosehip oil, rosa mosqueta oil, plus lavender and immortelle essential oils.It appears that stretchmarks seem to be worse in younger women, perhaps because the tissues are tighter. Women who start having children later on don't seem to suffer as badly - has anyone else noticed that?Best wishes,ÁineMarie

Women who start having children later on don't seem to suffer as badly - has anyone else noticed that?I've not a lot of experience in this area, but wonder if diet could be a factor? I got none at all despite having my children in early 20s. I used wheatgerm and marigold, had an exemplary wholefood diet and plenty of fresh air and sunlight. I did get them later in relation to weight gain -I was under the impression this is fairly common due to loss of elasticity and skin repair capability. (research.........- N=1; action research ;-)I wonder if maybe your older mothers may take more care with their diet etc?atbSallyBest wishes,ÁineMarieHas anyone a brilliant prescription for stretch marks in pregnancy?I have looked up the achives, and one presciption given by Mr Priest combines Castor oil and Ponds cream. Not sure if this is at all helpful but I used a Sanctuary 'mum to be' oil

throughout my pregnancy and don't have any stretchmarks. I did also have a good

diet and exercised which meant I gained little weight...but I think the oil

helped - can't remember ingredients (I did consider making something myself but

never got round to it.) but it was free of all the nasties.

I was going to mention gotu kola. Infuse it into an oil and add it to a base

cream or make a cream from scratch with it. It's just lovely - reduces stretch

marks and makes skin feel really smooth.
