Hello Regina,

I am happy to meet you, and happy that you joined the List, but not for the

reason you had to join. I, too, joined not too long ago.

I appreciate your telling us the medications your mother has taken, and the

effects.

It certainly sounds as if your mother's Geriatric/Psychiatrist knew what he

was talking about. We have the same type of doctor. We are very confident in

him, and like his personality too. (that doesn't hurt at all, but we would

never choose a doctor on personality)

My husband sees animals, and different types of people. He says, " Go away, "

or " Go home, " and they disappear. If he starts talking to our friends that

way, I'll have some tall talking to do. (grin) They all know. We do not try to

keep it a secrete.

I know you will find your answers here. Or someone will point you to the

answer.

Welcome aboard,

Imogene

Caregiver for my True Texas Gentleman husband of 35 years. He has LBD with

Parkinsonism, and Frontal Lobe Disease with Apathy, and possibly AD

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this group and this is my first message. My mother (83)

was diagnosed this week with LBD. She began experiencing

hallucinations several months ago. The Geriatric Psychiatrist

prescribed Risperdal, Abilify and Seroquel. She had bad reactions

to each of them. She could hardly walk or speak, she drooled and

was confused. The Neurologist has taken numerous blood tests, an

MRI, EEG and PET Scan. The results of the PET Scan, her

hallucinations and the bad reactions to the anti-psychotic drugs all

point to LBD.

Other then the hallucinations she is pretty with it. Nothing like

what I experienced with my Dad who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's

and Frontal-Temporal Dementia. Mom sees dogs, cats, children,

babies, bodies, men and women. She is more and more uncomfortable

in her own apartment. She has a 24 hour home aide and just started

taking 1.5 mg of Exelon a day. I don't expect the Exelon to have

any effect on the hallucinations until she is taking a larger dose.

What, if anything, can I do or say to calm her when she thinks there

is a man sitting in her chair? I've tried " I don't see anyone "

and " there's nobody there " . Of course, to her his is very real.

She is now talking to the " man " and is afraid that he will take

something from the apartment.

Has anyone had a similar experience or suggestions?

Mom is also taking Lexapro, Lorazepam, Synthroid and Diovan.

Thank you.

I had my first EN episode in January of this year. I had no idea what was going on at the time. All I knew was that there were lesions on both legs, right calf and ankle area, left leg. These lesions were very painful and seemed quite severe. I went through a series of treatment and I did go on the potassium iodide but it really did not help the first round, but after about a month and a half of that the lesions started to go away and I have been EN free since that time. I started off with at least 2 drops 2 times a day and had gotten as high as 10 drops 3 times a day when the lesions finally stopped. Hi all, I've just been diagnosed with EN, but had severe lesions for 15 mths now. It's spread from my legs to arms and back. Seems every website I've visited recommends potassium iodide 900mg daily for successful treatment for non-specific EN (no infection cause). I've been reading these posts and no-one seems to mention it at all. Has anyone tried this treatment?
