: I'm thinking about you and how difficult yesterday must have been

for you. I am so glad to know you have no regrets and wonderful memories.

Irene: I'd like to add to what just mentioned. My Mom, at this

point, is unable to walk unless held by two people. She then can

walk--sometimes--to the other side of the room with difficulty. Usually two

days out of the week, her eyes are closed most of the day and she isn't able to

be very receptive--in hearing to responding. This week has been a good one

though. She's had a full week of alertness--which is wonderful.

Everyone: Since we've all learned that a little infection (i.e., urinary tract

infection) can throw their senses off completely, do you think it was possible

that my Mom was sort of " out of it " two days a week because she had an infection

in her eyes? My Mom's eyes would tear and drip very often. I'm told tearing is

a side effect of DRY eyes. So we would put in Visine Tears now and then. But

the condition didn't get better and then her eyes became increasingly red. This

went on for longer than I'd like to admit. (I feel terrible about that.) But

whenever I asked her if her eyes were bothering, she'd say no or that it felt

better to keep them closed at

times. That was before I came to this group and realized she can't relay pain

verbally.

Irene: In line with what relayed, when my Mom was still walking, she

always saw bugs on the wood floor. I would tell her over and over again that

there weren't any bugs and they were just markings in the wood. She insisted and

I would insist, trying to show her by touching the spots on the floor. Please

take 's advice and agree with whatever your husband might be seeing and

comfort him and let him know it's OK.

Everyone: Re the dripping nose, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS A SYMPTOM. This is the

first time I heard someone mention it. My mother's nose has been dripping for

years and years (so has my Aunt's). Neither one is ever without a tissue. And

nobody was ever able to explain why it happened. BUT, after AT LEAST 15 years of

a dripping nose, it has almost stopped and we were wondering why lately! By the

way, my Aunt has now been put on Aricept since she seems to have the beginnings

of Alzheimer's (definitely different symptoms than my Mom's).

Thank you all for listening and for any further advice any time, Norma

, does she take Aricept? It can cause the runny

nose, I've heard. My husband had it for a long time,

but I don't remember if it started when Aricept was

started or not. For a long time, we blamed it on

allergies, but despite allergy medicine and shots, it

didn't go away. It may just be part of the disease,

as so many do have it.

My dad, with his Parkinson's, had the runny dose for a long time before

he went on medicines. It was worse once he was on Sinemet. He never

did take Aricept or Exelon or antipsychotic meds. (He was diagnosd with

Parkinson's and later Parkinson's dementia.)

Mom (diagnosed with LBD) has a rather chronic stuffy head and her nose

runs from time to time. This, however, has been a problem most since

she's been in the nursing home with their central air. I have a problem

with central heating/air conditioning and the stuff that grows in them,

so I have been inclined to think that may be part of the problem for her

since it improves in the summer when there are windows open.

June,

I did read that a runny nose is one of the LBD symptoms. IRene

My Mom has had a runny nose, I always called it " post nasal drip " for quite some

time. Maybe she has had LBD for quite some time?

, my husband's runny nose has stopped. But, I add, for now. I don't know

what the future holds. The runny nose was not an allergy.

Love a bunch,

Imogene
