Hello,

I am so happy and relieved to have found this group.

I have been on Zoloft 50mg since 1997. I was put on medication

because of a very difficult time I was going through due to the

breakup of my seventeen-year marriage and a subsequent breakup to a

man I thought I was in love with. I was told by one psychiatrist

that the type of depression I had had would probably require

lifelong medication (due to delusions). I tried stopping Zoloft 1

and one-half years ago, but wound up going back on. Recently,

because of medical problems (I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis) that

have caused weight gain, swelling of the legs, eyes, abdomen, etc.,

I have stopped taking it. I already feel much more energetic, have

been going to the gym, have been taking greater interest in life,

etc. I have experienced mood swings and sleep disturbance. Is this

part of withdrawal? What else should I expect? I have thought that

if worse comes to worse I can always go back on or take a Xanax. I

am going to start therapy to help (but I can't go every week because

it's too expensive).

Thank you all for listening.

Margaret
