Do they check the kids blood pressure before they give it? Made me feel bloody awful, I was stressed and BP was low to start with

Mandi x

Just for the sake of mentioning it, Tom has not done well on Propranolol. It made him withdrawn and more autistic. It didn't work even though he is a stressed kid. I suppose the fact that I would describe it as stress and wouldn't think to use the word 'anxiety' for Tom really might be the clue???I would still say it's worth a try due to the success other kids are having.Sara

SaraI was the same as Mandi - I took it for migraines and I felt awful, there was no way I could take it long term.  I could barely move when I was on it, I can see how it would make a child withdrawn.  However, I was like Mandi, I have low BP and stress.  Did they take his BP before prescribing it?

Also, I agree, there is a difference between a child who is stressed and one who is anxious.Darla

Whilst I had low BP my heart racing like crazy over 100+ BPM for 5 weeks, it was my adrenals not my heart that needed sorted, my BP is usually normal

Following this with interest, big concerns though after googling, especially the heart. Both my boys had heart murmurs, checked out at the Brompton and no reasons found. I myself have a lot of palpitations and thumping heart but that could be down to my previous lifestyle, who knows, but maybe something genetic, so I would be way too scared to try this even though the successes here make it very tempting, wish I could have proper medical monitoring for the boys, that would make me feel a bit happier.

I would be hard pushed to know the difference between stressed and anxious?

has an anxiety disorder but he often feels very stressed, looks like one and the same here.

Thanks Natasa, they said at Brompton that they "clicked" no reason they just "clicked" funny to see you use the same word.

Re: propranolol success

Hi Vicky, propranolol is often given for palpitations or chest pain. As

for mumurs it probably depends what exactly it is - in this case it was

found very helpful: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1258727 - could

you get referral to cardio? was it diagnosed as systolic click murmur

syndrome?
